Just started today. It will run with the choke out but as soon as I put the choke in it dies. Just replaced plugs and wires about a week ago and it ran fine after. Any Ideas?

First thing, search for "Idle solenoid"

Easy check: With key in RUN (engine off), disconnect (separate) the green connector on the carb (two wires) - tap the male and female halves back together and you should hear a "CLICK-CLICK-CLICK" each time you touch the connectors together... If no click next step. If you get a click - it's something else.

How far out does your choke need to be for the engine to run?
A Pighead rule of thumb...If you need the choke all the way out to run=Idle solenoid. If it will run with choke halfway out=vacuum leak.

Shoot 2 cans of carb. cleaner in it with someone holding the accel. pedal down and I bet it will be fine. MIke

Check for vac leaks.

Its a brand new trollhole carb with only 200 miles on it so it shouldn't be dirty. The choke has to be pulled out a little less than halfway. So vacuum leak?

it'll take you 3 mins to rule out the Idle Solenoid. Start there.

Well I had a small vac leak that i fixed and it kept dying so I checked the idle solenoid. Sure enough it was froze up so I stuck a small punch down in it and tested it. It clicked so I put everything back together and it ran fine for a while. But it has started doin it again. I guess i'm gunna have to get a new solenoid.

Check the function of the emissions control box first.

Engine is completely desmogged

How's the fuel filter, fuel pump? Take the fuel line off the carb and put into a cup. Crank the engine and check for fuel.

Troll, on the carbs you sell, the ICS is only 1 wire, correct ? So it's grounded from the factory through the carb base ?

Shout out to Trollhole

They know how to take care of customers. As you can see from the above conversation, I had a problem with my idle solenoid. Trollhole shipped me a new one practically a day later and the 60 is back in business. I would strongly recommend gettin a Trollhole carb to anyone not only because of quality products, but also because of awesome their customer service.

Another one

Another idle solenoid failure. 60 again won't idle. Runs good with the choke on. Any Idea what is causing these solenoids to fail? Or if I could have another issue causing the 60 to not idle. Someone give me a check list of things to check...

Are these Chinese IC solenoids?

I was having the same problem with my 60 just recently and I took it to a mechanic to trouble shoot. He checked everything I did an found nothing. But when he removed the carb he found the problem. I had a cracked intake manifold, a common problem from what I understand. If all else fails, check the intake manifold.

Well it is actually not the solenoid put in a brand new one from troll hole and it still won't idle. WHAT IS WRONG? This is frustrating.
