New eldo calipers out back, new rotors and 4runner calipers up front. Pedal felt fine before the work, except for a grinding sound because my pads in front were gone. Flushed the system real real good, no bubbles from anywhere, including the LSPV. I get a firm pedal after the 2nd or 3rd pump. Booster passes the FSM test.

Anyone else run a stock master on eldo/4runner calipers? Pedal feel?

I really don't want to do a master cause I'm $500 unexpected dollars into the brakes already, but I'm thinking I'll have to. Thoughts?

The rear discs require that you move more fluid than your stock master will move. You need a new master a Non ABS fj80 is your best bet for fit and ease of installation.

What is it doing? loosing pedal after applied?

Long first push, 2nd is shorter, 3rd is nice and firm.

I'm thinking that may be my next step, but what is wierd to me is that the rear disks were working fine 3 days ago with the stock master.

93 FJ80 Non ABS Master to the FJ62 Booster it is. Thanks fellas.

i put a T100 (if they ask non ABS and no not a 1 ton... yes they ask) master cylinder on my truck when mine went the inner bore is larger and thus moves more fluid pedal is quite firm as i have stock brake compents up front and rear still however it requires little to no pedal before force is applied (when drums are adjusted) i need drums and shoes again so i really wanna do the rear disk and now is the time and my excuse.

what brakets did you use (if any) and where did u get em from?
what year calipers did you use? fronts or rear? also which rotors?

roughly how much did the rear cost you?

Thanks!!

Found a 93 non ABS Wagner master cylinder on the shelf in town..... $34! I'll toss it on there tonight and see what happens.

Bought my full floater from Sixty here on mud, he did the rear disks. Eldorado calipers and rotors. Info in the tech links and tons will show up on search.

Just replaced the calipers in the rear for about $250 w/ pads at @ shop cost from Car Quest.

Wagner master didn't have the reservoir on it, so I didn't get it. Carquest has a master on the way, it will be here tomorrow. I sure hope it works because I have a 4 day trip starting Friday AM!

Here's the question: Will my stock FJ62 master cylinder cap fit this new reservoir? If not, does the new reservoir come with a cap? If it comes with a cap, does it have wires to hook up to the brake sensor light? Splice them in? Carquest says this is a new-OEM replacement master including the reservoir.

any ideas?

later reservation are square.. I can't remember if the 62 res is but I doubt it. If it comes witha res it shoudl come with a cap and the little floaty thing.. Mine did..

I am running that same master on my 40 with 1 ton disks on the front 60 and 3/4 ton disks on the rear. Locks up 40's nicely...

Sometimes I wonder if I can type at all...

The resevior is squareish.. But IIRC the cap is round. Like I said, mine came with the cap and the internal float...

cool. So you just spliced the 2 wires into the OEM loom and good to go?

Damnit. On the one I got the cap is a different size, and the wire connection is different.

I see 2 options:
1. try to cut a hole in the new cap and use the float from the OEM master in the new master.
2. cut the wires going to the old master, hook them up to the new master and see what happens. This seems like the better option, but has some chalenges: a. I don't really know which wire would go where. b. I don't have the clip that makes this connection.

Thoughts?

Sure wish I wasn't doing this project 18 hours before I leave for a trip.

don't connect it ;)

The wires that is..

Plugs change over time. MC's plug will be different too...

OK, I hated to do it, but I called Marlin and asked how they do it. They said that I could hook up the wires to the plug on the master using a plug from a pick-n-pull. Asked how to know which wire goes where, he said you could test it to see, but I don't know how to do that. For now I'm just going to let the light be on.

Edit:
Bench bleed. Installed. Pedal feels perfect. I won't be able to bleed it at the wheels till later on when somebody can help me, so I haven't driven it yet.
