Hey guys, new to the forum here. Impressed with the amount of knowledge being passed around in here. Any way here is a pic of my new girl. 72 with the infamous 3 speed. I just put some new shoes on her!

I need a little help. My jeep looks as though it originally came with the interior light just to the right of the glove box that was equipped on the factory soft top models. I cant seem to find a replacement for this anywhere. Does anyone have the factory original dash light. I figured if I cant find an original maybe I can find something that looks somewhat similar to put in its place. I just have a black rubber grommet in there now. Any help or pics of what it looks like would be a great help. I called SOR and they said they havn't seen one in a while and didn't have much help on where to start looking?

did you just call it a jeep? Welcome to the madness.

Calling it a jeep is a bad thing on this site, I call mine a jeep all the time to the family, easier to say. I often correct myself saying its not a jeep. We now call it the "wajipu" According the internet that is how to pronounce "not a jeep" in Japanese.

As for the light, I do no think that is factory at all. SOR has lots of images for dash knobs and parts, I did not check but I do not think that was factory to the right of the glove box.

Jeep! I think I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.

Looks like the light was available though.

je....what...I would never!

Auxillary 12 volt. thats a good idea. I may just do that if I can't find anything else. and I could use the switch for some addt'l exterior lights. I would still like to see one if anyone has one on their dash.

Your road to redemption, after using the 'J' word, starts with posting up more pics of your '72.

That dash light was on some of the 72-74 hard top models. Just like the footman loops on the back corners of the tub. I have a dash from a 73 hard top that has the hole for the dash light. The way to tell if a cruiser around this time was a soft top model is the threaded holes for the eye bolts on either side. On the hard top model the hole is there in the skin but the piece it is welded to behind is solid.

I would just install the one thecrazgreek posted and keep my eye out for the soft light. they come up from time to time.

Was the orginal light turned on by a switch or was it turned on by twisting the light? If it is turned on by twisting the light, an instrument panel light from a model A ford would be a close match. Available from any model A restoration sight. NEVERMIND, just saw the light switch on a previous post
