I decided to start a new thread on my FJ40 build up so you won't have to wade through a bunch of postings to get to the good stuff. :D

I have been working on this build since last March - April. It has come along way thanks to all the wonderful help that can be found here on these boards. I could NOT have done it without your support.

I still have some things to do such as, getting the hard top sides, amby doors and a couple misc pieces into paint, installing a set of 4 degree caster shims in the front, installing the water overflow bottle, windshield washer bottle and nozzle, and probably several items I can’t remember right now.

Anyhoo, onto the pics...

That looks fantastic.
Quick question, did the fuel tank hose/separator cover come painted silver from the factory?

They were the pewter color.

The Tires are SS TSL 32 x 10.50 Radials...

I still cant believe this is ACE Paint. I picked up mine this weekend in the same color as yours based on your paint codes. Its going to be a few weeks before I start painting but I just wanted to say thanks. I hope mine turns out as good as yours.

that looks awsome!
Ace is the place. unfortunatly I do not have one that I now of around me.
Great job!

You are making great progress!! Two questions: How did you redo the seats, they look nice. Ware did you get the fender flares from, I like the look of those too.

Keep up the good work, Slow Poke

What color this is? Is this an original FJ40 color?

I like it.

Yes it is. Its the actual color this FJ was born with. 653 Olive.

Thanks... It's all in the prep. If you prep like your shooting $200.00 a gallon paint, your results should come out great. But remember I also clear coated with a very hard auto grade clear enamel. That should make it last a good long time.

The seats are a SOR re-cover. New foam bottoms as well. I think the SOR covers are done VERY well. The fender flares are bushwhackers. I paid $165.00 from Summitt Racing with free shipping. As you can see, I still need to add a couple more fasteners on the pass side flare... :D

Since I wrote this today, I have installed the radiator overflow bottle with new sticker from Aatlaxx... And got the windshield washer bottle installed and tested...(needs a new pump...:o)

Painted the hard doors this afternoon, and will be clearing them tomorrow.

Oh yeah, if you don't recall, I started with this...

Nice job, great looking rig. Who's make, and what size suspension lift/shackle are you running and how do you like the handling and ride? Most important, does it still fit in a 7ft high garage door?

Thanks Dave

WOW! Hey Greek, Where R U at in OR?. I am thinking of doing seat covers like you and could use some pointers.

Greek, Do you think you could use the same hardener in the final coat if you used the roll on method?

I don't see why not...

It has a Rancho 4" Lift Kit that was installed at the dealer in 1976. It obviously has "worn in" and rides nicely for a 40. I will be installing a set of 4 degree caster shims to help with high speed driving. The shackles have new bushings and flex easily. They appear to be about a 2" extended shackle, very heavy duty, and set at a very nice angle. And yes it fits easily into a 7ft garage.

I am in Salem. I would be happy to help you get a set installed.
