Well kinda,

Long story short, last spring i eneded buying my dads Fjcruiser. Truck is nice but with a family of 3 kids and the :princess: it simply wouldn't do the job. So the wife bought a used audi, i sold the Fjcruiser and now i'm back in my DD Montero. But has i was deciding to sell the FJ i was planning a replacement for the montero. went and look at the 4 runner, but here in Canada even with the $ being almost to par with USD the 4runner trail is 50k! So i said to myself if i get a 30-35k Landcruiser 100 i'd be probably happier then in a 4runner that doesn't even have a 3rd row seat (trail edition).

So i started to look, yes the Landcruiser was never sold in Canada so importing one from USA was in order. Canada allows to import some trucks from the US market even if they are not 15 years old, the LC100 is one of them (must be before 2007).

So while searching and being a Diesel cruiser nerd, i decided to look into getting everything needed to do a diesel swap into a LC100. Yeah right....first you need alot of things, then you need a LHD donor.......

Well i was very lucky and fortunate to stumble into what could become :bounce2: one of a cruiser. Yep i bought a HDJ100 VX 2001, rear locker and all the imaginable shabang from a LX470, and it is LHD, and most of all with a 70,000 miles 1HD-FTE ;-). So this is going to become the donor for the NA HDJ100 project.

This is not going to be a cheap project, getting the thing cut, all parts from the rear removed, and shipped is not cheap. Those truck in Europe still sell for 25-30k Euros, that is still alot of $, obviously i didn't pay that with this rolled hdj100. Transport of Canada would not let me import the truck in one piece, being less then 15 years old. So that is why i was asking pictures, the truck will be cut and the rear half of the frame and body will stay in europe, less all removable parts...

Now i'm on the look out for a clean (no rust), super high mileage with a clean interior 2000 to 2002 LC100 in the US! So have a eye for me.

Most damage was to the top. The truck still runs perfectly.

Is it going to be av 5/M conversion too? I am so very jealous... How are you going to get replacement parts into Canadia, though?

No 4 speed auto.

Other from the engine it is a Lx470 so parts should be easy to get here at lexus dealer. I'm sure i'll get into some issue tho.

Congratulations, if it turns out as nice as your 42, I'm sure were in for a treat.

wow...

so you're importing half a truck from Europe and a full truck from the US to build a hybrid in Canada...? You are a brave man... :)

This sounds like an awesome project!

Im a little confused though, your taking 3 100s and combining them into one, or are there only two?

I know you have a 2001 HDJ100 for the engine, and are looking for a 2000 to 2002 UZJ100, but I don't understand where the LX470 comes into play??

That makes sense, but then why not just swap the 1HD into an LX?

Because used lexus here are still sold huge amount of money. I'm not going to find a 2000-2001 LX470 under 20k CDN, that is if i find one. Toyota landcruiser LC100 are alot cheaper in the US.

Toyota never sold 80, 100 or 200 cruisers in Canada. We only had LX450 and 470, and they are VERY rare.

I mentionned the LX470 because someone ask how i am going to get parts. LX470 are Landcruiser 100, so i can always check with lexus here for the parts, then i am going to have to buy in the US, or oversea if it is engine related.

FYI, you should have no trouble ordering parts from a Toyota dealership for a 100 series LC in Canada. Obviously they are available from Lexus as 470 parts, but a Toyota dealer should be able to look up the 100 series LC parts and order them (possibly cheaper than Lexus parts too, depending on the dealer).

If you need any help in the Ottawa/Gatineau area, feel free to PM me. Your build sounds really cool!

That all makes sense, i never knew that the 80, 100, and 200 were only available as the LX in Canada.

i don't think the LC200 was ever sold has a lexus, well not in Canada.

Chimyz has a 200 series Land Cruiser and he is in Canada.

I will be following this post carefully as I have always wanted to do this exact engine swap. I was quoted about 25k two years ago and that was just a best guesstimate.

Not sold in Canada, so he probably bought it in the US and got it imported. Anyhow, i cannot afford a new LC200. I should be happy with a 1HD-FTE 100 ;-).

I've checked and yes Lexus sell the 200 here has a LX570, but something like 90K....

Have you guys ever went to toyota France and checked the price for a HDJ200? there like 90K euro...man that is alot of $

I'm on the look out for any kind of Toyota manual i can get my hand on. So if you see something for sale or electronic, let me know!

So are you looking for a 100 in the States then?
