So I finally found a M101 for sale that was close enough to pick up. I got the trailer from A guy named Simon in Winnipeg. Great Guy, he even lent me a spare tire just in case i got a flat on the way home.(thanks again Simon) So here is how i picked up the trailer.

So far I have cleaned up the minimal rust and POR-15 the trailer. I also have done the spring over. I still need to make a lid and get some new lights. The trailers first trip will be on the 29th so i need to get it done before then.

After spring over:

nice score  shes coming along nicely. original pics looked familiar..i vaguely remember contacting someone in winnepeg about a camo m101 he had for sale...i think this might have been it. you going 6 bolt and bigger tires? lid looks great...planning on putting on an RTT?

Thanks for the tailgate pixs . I wasnt sure if you read my post before it was lost

I love the tailgate system. Who needs fancy hardware? Simple gravity latch - removable hinge system. Nice execution!

The lid is made out of 12 gauge, the guy that bent it up for me said that is what i should go with. Now i think that it is a little over kill but what ever. I have no plans on putting on a RTT so the extra weight doesn't matter. But it is solid!!:)

cheers

The Place that made the lid messed up and the left side at the back is 1/2" lower then the right so they gave me this one to use. They are making me a new one that i will pick up when I get back. I only primed this one because I am giving it to another guy in town.

So we are going on a trip and I need to do some work on the trailer. We are picking up a RTT:D so I need to add some bars to the lid.

I also picked up a spare tire for the trailer so I decided to make a bumper and swing out. Its not finished yet but getting close. I made it a bolt on so it is easy to remove, If it ever needs to be.

Because of the RTT I wanted to make some removable legs to help make the trailer more stable when set up. This is what I came up with.

So that is all for now but we leave around the 7th of August so it needs to be done by then.

Cheers

Nice job, love the fab work!

I think the back bumper gets overlooked many times, but it's so nice to have some "flat" space to set or unload things.

Great restore, good luck with it.

Very, Very sweet!!!!! Reminds me that I'd sent pics and swampman specs to a guy over a month ago and I need to call him about a lid for my M101!

OK great system fromt to rear, the top is impressive would you mind showing the fabrication underneath for strength in the lid? keep up the good work and posts. Jim

in theroy the lid should be strong enough not to need it but i made 1 support underneath mainly to hold the shape, kinda sort of
