Picked up this fj45 after deciding to go long wheelbase instead of my shorty for practicality and legality haha

From what I can tell it's a March '73 model (chassis number 144xxx) but I'm not 100% sure

What's really bugging me is the colour, Is it original or not, so far everywhere I've looked it's been Orange, even in the glove box and behind every part I remove but I can't find a picture of one the same

I've even ground a bit back and it shows the same 3 layers as my other pannels but I'm still unsure

The only factory colour I've found is pollux Orange (304?) but it looks too pale, and all the others are not original

Anyways I've started the tear down and the biggest hurdle the back wall of the cab if you haven't noticed yet

Does a 73 have the colour code on the firewall plate?

That orange looks close to my 73 FJ40 FST. That color was available in the US on the 7274 models. Believe it was available in a two tone white/orange on the FJ55 during the same period. Going by US standards it would at least a 73 with the radio opening. That heater would make it a 74 model if it's original. The vent on the cowl will be welded close if it is. Would have to double check the dates but believe 73 model started 9/72 and the 74 model 9/73.

Cool thanks, found persimmon Orange and white fj55

It looks too Orange for the pollux but not Orange enough for the persimmon, could be the lighting though

thanks for the photos they have helped piece together everything, ive looked through endless google image searches and finally found it!!!!!!!!!!
definitely Pollux, its just that it fades differently over here for some reason, over your way they must fade to the same colour as yours but here they go more yellowy like mine, must be the extra sun or something
this shorty that was repainted the factory colour and it matches mine perfectly, but before it looked like yours

Thanks, Yeah even the guy I got it off regretted raiding it. My plans are a complete restoration with a 2h 5spd and stockish look to it, got a 60 to beat around in so this will be treated nicely, for a old cruiser anyway haha

I love this color......That's my old 1978 the Cruiser Solutions built.

Looks awesome mate, I'd love for my Ute to turn out the same just, well, a Ute haha.
What do you know about the colour? Is it pollux/pumpkin or something else I've missed or a custom mix, I've found nothing that matches apart from yours and another Ute
