I recently bought my 2nd FJ60.....and I have to push the clutch to the VERY VERY bottom (against the floor board) to engage and disengage the clutch and switch gears.

Can I adjust this?

Sounds like maybe your clutch master or slave is failing. Consensus around here is replace both at the same time.
There is an adjustment on the slave cylinder, may not have that much movement.

Try bleeding it first. Look for goo on the inside of the firewall when the clutch hardware goes through. It its present, you need a new master cylinder. Same goes for the slave cylinder. FTR, I have an original slave cylinder at 370,000 miles. I am on the third master cylinder.

x2 on bleeding first. There is an adjustment. "early" fj60's have an adjustable push rod on the slave cylinder. Later (and early?) have an adjustment at the mater.

I'm a novice mechanic, I did my own OME suspension install and carb install but went to a pro for my tranny swap.

Is replacing the Master Clyinder and Slave within my capabilities? It seems pretty simple and cheap ($60 in parts) but I didn't want to get in over my head.

I'd give it :banana:, as long as you have some experience bleeding a hydraulic system. It's no harder than replacing a brake slave cylinder.

A brake and hydraulic clutch must have.

3 to 5 PSI is all the pressure needed. You can flush and bleed your brakes/clutch while your wife bakes some brownies instead of pumping the pedal.
You but then you miss out on that quality garage time with the :princess:

Bleeding brakes and the clutch is the only mechanical thing my wife has ever done on any of our cars.

I think I can handle that... I have a good amount of previous experience with bleeding brakes, replace lines, etc.

The diagrams above are very helpful. It feels like I’m pushing my clutch through the floor when I try to get into reverse or 1st so I thought I could adjust the push rod. my pedal height is correct but I have almost 2 inches of play before I feel pressure on the clutch. When I look at the adjustment screw it’s already backed out as far as it can go so no further adjustment is possible.
