This is the last of 4 Toyota diesel engines and transmissions which my buddy and I imported from the UK earlier this year. I swapped a 1HD-FT into my wife's 80 and it's been great. The 5 speed manual trans is really fun in these trucks. Price for this combo is $6,500

This 1HD-T has approximately 133K on it (I was told this by the seller) and it includes the factory wiring harness. The harness is for an automatic transmission but it will work fine with the manual 5 speed. You will need to purchase an OEM flywheel and clutch assembly (along with the other small parts) in order to mate this engine to the 5 speed trans. All these parts are readily available from overseas.

The engine includes the 24V starter, alternator, vacuum pump, power steering pump, turob and injection pump. The mount of the AC pump is included but I don't have the pump. I have all the turbo intake ducting but not the actual air filter box itself. The metal plate directly behind the engine is bent from shipping and will need to be replaced at the cost of about $50. I had to replace this damaged plate on my 1HD-FT also. I have many spare conversion parts (RHD trans shifters, RHD transfer shifters, boots, etc) which I will include with the sale. Also included is the factory Toyota fuel filter and fuel filter mount for the engine bay.

I have not run this engine and as preventative maintenance, the BEB's should be done. I'm willing to either (A): assist you or (B): do them myself if you want to work something out. I have no doubt that the engine is good running condition as it was pulled from a running/driving truck in the UK and the 1HD-FT I swapped runs excellent. After doing some research, I believe the engine is a 1993 or early 1994 model based on the engine serial number.

Shipping is up to you, I won't work it out. Local pickup is of course, FREE. I'm in the Seattle area, please send a PM or text me at 360/305-6861 if interested, Ross

any idea what year that serial number puts this engine in by chance?
No, I have not run it. The first string in the serial is "1HDT" but that is stamped on a separate casting toward the front of the block

After doing a bit of research on this, my educated guess is 1993. There seems to be limited information (even on MUD) when it comes to specifically nailing down the engine serial numbers and what production years they correspond with. Maybe someone else can chime in if they know better. Hope this helps, Ross

Bump, price reduced, both engine and transmission are still available.

Hmmmm, that's odd, I didn't get it. Inbox says it isn't full either... You can always text me, I won't be around a real computer until much later tonight

Bump, some people have inquired about whether or not I will separate the transmission and engine and what the individual prices are. I'd rather not separate but I will if it comes to it.

$1500 for the transmission + shift boots, shifters, wiring harness (has one broken plug) and any other transmission parts I have left. I have a pressure plate, clutch disc and flywheel from an FT engine, I don't think the flywheel is compatable with the HD-T. The transmission is a later model/later version which has different/updated synchros from the early years. This was pointed out by another MUD member based on drilled/undrilled bosses that are on the case.

$5500 for the engine and all the engine mounted accessories minus the AC pump+wiring harness

$6500 for the combined pair

Might shed some light on the year. Looks to be 92 to 96?

ToyoDIY.com
That would make sense, I'm not sure where you found that on the site (I am a member) but it makes sense given what I was able to look up. I believe that the UK started getting the 24 valve 1HD-FT's in either 95' or 96' though.

I just checked my frame vs. my engine number and they do not match. So it may not be accurate.

OK, I'm pretty confident that it is a 1993 or early 1994 based on the engine serial number range and what others have posted on MUD.

ENGINE IS SOLD, transmission and related parts are still available

What is the difference on the year of the trans? Condition of the trans? What is the usual shipping cost of having that shipped to So Cali?

Early years had weaker synchros, an issue Toyota addressed with the later models. All I can tell you is this trans came out of a running/driving truck in the UK. (So I myself was told) It rotates smoothly by hand, the trans I swapped into my 80 has performed with no issues. I don't know about shipping. Strapping it to a pallet and bringing it to a freight location would be easy however and something I'm will to do. I can weigh it out if you want.

Yes, let me know. I have an H150F and the 1-2 gear is a little too short for my city driving. I may keep it but considering going to the H151F.

OK, I weighed the transmission out this morning...what a bear. The trans alone weighs in a 150lbs. Factor in the pallet and the extra parts (especially if you want the heavy clutch cover and disc) and I'd say 200lbs total is probably a pretty good estimate. Maybe even a little on the light side. It should give you a starting point though for determining shipping. Again, I'm happy to palletize everything and deliver it to a freight yard at no extra cost.
