I picked up the ARB for my 05 today from TRDParts4U. Barb, Chris, Jacque, and Phil have gone out of their way to help with my 05, I appreciate it...

Here is the bumper...

I started taking parts off the truck... The plastic "bumper" removed, and some black spray paint to hide the white sheet metal underneath. More pics tomorrow...

This is what I have done so far...

I took off the plastic bumper, painted the sheetmetal underneath with black paint. Today I removed the Aluminum "bumper" and installed the ARB mounting bracket. The stock "bumper" is held on with 6 10mm studs, you need a deep socket to take them off.

The ARB is significantly more stout, and is attached to the frame in more places than the stock bumper. It is is attached with the the six stock bumper studs, and 4 non-stock 12mm Bolts. It aint coming off.

The sides are braced to the frame with 1/8" steel held on with 1/2" x 4" bolt through the frame and 2 10mm bolts to the bracket on each side.

I used a significant quantity of locktite, torqed the six bumper studs to 70lbs, all the others are torqued to 60lbs, exept for the 1/2" x4" bolt through the frame which is torqued to 10lbs per the instructions.

The instructions are very clear. So far everything has fit correctly with out any trouble or modifications.

Tomorrow morning we will mount the bumper. More pics to come...

Mounting the bumper is a two person job. The instructions are very clear, and accurate. Except for the wire colors for the parking and turn signals. Not a big deal, just to let you all know. Everything is done, I am really happy with the results. The IPF lights with 110w bulbs are bright.
Thanks to Jacque (Gumbo) and Chris (Valkyrie) for all their help. I appreciate it.

Thanks. My OEM tupperware saw some damage on my first run through spider ravine at Barnwell mountain. After that I got out the utility knife and made some adjustments. :D

I will be using it soon... http://lonestartoyotajamboree.com/

Um... wow, this may sound stupid to some of you BUT!
Here in Canada we don't have the single cab 4x4!
What a shame!
I cheked over on toyota.ca but did'nt found it.
Then I cheked on toyota.com and built my own.
I can't believe how cheap they are!
... might have a trip soon to get me a new "foreign" toy lol!
Looks good!

Hey, while you are at it, bring down some Diesel Toyota motors...

My truck is great, but I wish it were diesel... No diesel option down here...

How is the power output from the 2.7?
Is it good or is it as bad as my old 22re powered pick-up!?
How does it compare?
Thanks
Matt
(Ho and for the diesel engines, I might know someone, but don't throw away your low K' engine)

Looks great! I really like the new Tacomas. I do not know if I'll part with my 89 pickup though...

According to the Toyota site...

2.7-liter DOHC EFI
4-cylinder with VVT-i
159 hp @ 5200 rpm
180 lb.-ft. @ 3800 rpm

When I purchased my truck the HP was listed as ~168. Toyota changed the numbers... Anyway, it has a plenty of power to spare.

I think your 22RE new had around 100 HP. (If I am wrong let me know...)

I bought my truck in April 2005 with 7 miles. Yes, Seven miles on it. Never owned a new vehicle before. Now it has over 25,000 miles on it... It is a great motor but I would have preferred a diesel.

Hey, don't go thinking we still have toyota diesel engine option!!
That was way back!
My bj70 had a diesel engine in it but it was an '85.
Now we have less options than you guys.
Only that some diesel engine are still around from old wrecked vehicle.
Other than that we're stuck with gasser.
And yes my 22re had 100hp, with the shape it was in I bet I had around 50 at the wheel.. the fastest I got with that truck was 140KM/H! :frown:
I'm currently cheking the possibility of getting a single cab 4x4 in Canada!
I'll let you know
Matt

I am heart broken... In 10 years when my stock engine needs replacing (it is a toyota!) I am looking to do a diesel swap. Well, by then we will all be running hydrogen anyway! hahahahha...

ARB bumper update....

I have RUB. At Jamboree this weekend I could feel the tires as they were stuffed in the fenders and cut up by the ARB. I am running 285/75/16s. I am going to cut 2 inches off of the ARB for clearance.
