I am absolutely shocked that I cannot sell my 98 100 , with all of the extras and all of the money spent to make sure this vehicle is running perfect. I mean I am just shocked.

Has the value dropped on these this much? All you new owners, what are you buying your stock, non modded 100's for these days?

Thanks,

Juke

Prolly has something to do with gas prices. And, a '98 is closing in on 9 years old. Even though that '98 is better than most new vehicles out there (and will likely still outlast them), most people have a hard time shelling out that much for a 9yr old vehicle. The right buyer is out there. How have you been advertising it? I have good luck with Autotrader.com. FYI, my rule of thumb when buying a used vehicle is to buy it as close to trade in value as possible. So make sure you have it priced right.

Another thing to think about, with all the incentives being offered by domestic auto makers, there's a lot of used cars out there.

Guess you just better keep it now. :)

THIS WEEK:
I've bid on a 2001 on eBay and was outbid at $25K. High was $26.1.
I've bid on a 1999 on eBay and wouldn't go the $19,500 they wanted.
I'm about to bid on 2 other 2001's but don't think I'll get them for my limit of $25K.
I'm ready NOW!

Purchased a 99 in June with 101k miles for $18.5k with the 100k mile service done. It needed tires and a sunroof. The tires are on. Still waiting on the sunroof. Will probably install a Kenwood Double DIN DDX7017 or the new style slee sliders first (one of these will be my Christmas present) - my wife is so excited....Just kidding.

It took a while to sell my 99 (missing rear AC - the reason I sold it). I used autotrader and priced it at trade in value.

I really want a 2000+ so I can get TRAC and VSC. I'm 95% as motivated for a '99 too. Agree...I need rear air, especially in AZ.

I want 60-90K miles and good condition. Need one now if anybody sees one near AZ. Gotta park my 2001 NOW and save it for trips.

I know where there is one but I am going to try and buy it if still there after labor day (I figure the dealer will be ready to deal by then). Looking at paying around $23K, its a Black 2000 with 48K miles on it but it needs new tires. I'm not excited about the Black exterior because it will look dirty all the time and it has the brown leather and I would reather have grey but if I can get it for around $23K I think it's a good deal.

I would think that it is just a "small" market that you are selling to, that and as mentioned above most people are all freaked out about the gas. When we got ours I think the trade in value in Nov. 04 was like 13,200 +/- that was at 105,000 miles.

$13,200??? That must be the Kelly Blue Book value. They are always really low. That is if you want to sell it to Car Max or somebody of the likes.

The NADA trade in value is closer to 17 or $18k. With a retail still over $20k even for that mileage.

I was gonna give ya the :flipoff2: sign, but then I seen the words BLACK. :D
Ya, I don't want black either. Imagine pinstriping (though I'll wheel my 2001 and rarely this 2nd one)?

That is probably what the dealer offered the previous owner for his trade up to an 04. I did not have a problem w/his $15,000 price tag and felt like I got the good deal!

If you recall, I sold my 99 with 136,000 miles in May for 16,500. I was sweating bullets before it sold, however. Your price isn't too high, although it seems what people are willing to pay across the board for cruisers has dropped significantly in the last 2 years. I agree with Autotrader, if you can stand all the scam emails you will get- good luck. I'd buy it in a heartbeat for that if I had cash.

Juke,

I have been trying to sell my brothers Tundra for weeks now and I haven't had a single serious interested party. The used car market sucks right now for gas guzzlers especially since you can get a brand new truck or suv from Chevy, Ford, or Chrysler for next to nothing at lower or 0% interest rates.

If you are in a hurry then it sucks to be selling right now. Your price is very fair. Try ebay with that price as the reserve:idea:

Thanks for the support guys. I know that my price is very fair and that is why I just cannot believe the response.

Oh well, we'll see.

All the new car discounts are driving down used values across the board. Wait till the snow starts falling and you might get a bit more. I decided to hold on to my 99 for a while. Hard to replace it with anything nice for the same money.

Yes, rear locker.

Dude, I wish my garage wasn't full. Thats a fair price.

You'll get what you're looking for, if being patient isn't an issue.

Good Luck,

Doug
