OK, I can't figure out how to edit the other thread title to draw people's attention so I'll start a new thread

I have two quotes in hand with a quote from a third company pending. Feedback is wanted or if there are unanswered questions here let me know and I will find out the answer.

Bid #1 is from www.Leatherseats.com as noted above:

-two front bucket seats: 10 orders = $499, 20 orders = $479.
-add second row $724 for 10, $699 for 20 (comes with 4 leather door panel inserts)
-installation kit $35
-centre console $50, arm rests $75/pair, seat heaters $99/pair.
-custom logo stitches, piping, perforations and other :princess: stuff available ask me about prices
-Leather is top grain automotive vat dyed "heavy G grain" ~.8mm thick, which is said to be thicker then most OEMs and comparable to BMW leather as far as feel and grain. They will colour match as best they can so for best results you will want to send them a small swatch of your seat.
-A key issue is we will need a volunteer to provide oemseat covers from a 93/94 as pattern models. Mine is a daily driver so I can't ship mine to oklahoma and wait unless someone wants to lend me some other seat covers.

Quote #2
www.NWautoleather.com
-flat rate over 5 orders of $525 per pair (this is still somewhat negotiable, especially if we get a large order)
-add $225 for each additional row, seat heaters $89
-same kind of :princess: extras available as above including TRD stitched on your seats
-uses "Monza H" Top Grain leather said to be "mercedes" quality and better than OEM and "through-dyed" -they say they get superior fit because of their skill at adjusting OEM patterns to allow for expansion of leather after fitment. will colour match as best they can with samples
-3 year 60,000 mile warranty.
-located in Vancouver so sea2sky Greg and I can be the seat pattern donors (they need the car for one day Greg). This also allows me to inspect their operation in person and will probably result in better follow up on customer service (but it means I pay 14% local tax  ).
-found two references for apparently satisfied group buys from these guys while googling to find out what monza h leather is
http://www.newtiburon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23098&highlight=leather+group+buy

So at least we know they are better than factory hyundai leather!

I will pass on the last quote when I get it but it sounds like it will be close. The question for now is whether these prices are good enough for people to be interested. My sense is that these are pretty good prices and I am in... Elsewhere I have seen prices of up to $900 a pair.

PS. If you want the special pricing on your own personal seat logo, piping, perforations etc all you have to do is post to this thread admitting it :D

My port installed leather seat patterns are different than factory installed - probably rules me out for the group buy huh?

Jason, maybe this is a question for you to askDan, but I am assuming the port installations must be either original leather seats or cloth seat conversion. If oem leather then no problem. If a cloth conversion then leatherseat.com would have your pattern if we went with them, but not sure about the other guys. They will colour match off a sample you provided either way.

not to make things complicatedly stupid here, but on the leatherseats.com / katzkin option, if you ask for their "basic" option, it supposedly features a higher grade pleated door leather in the door panels, where as the "normal" option (ie, nothing special specified) features the flat door leather, that looks like autozone crap --

-- just clarify that with them before you drop a few hundred benjamins --

eric how about a comment on the quality of the seats themselves after a year of use!!

bahaha --

-- i love em, and they match the factory leather color perfect --

-- elmerpimp rick saw the leather and complimented it too --

-- i think my seats are more worn from leatherique than my rear, but that's just my personal exp --

:D

ps - i would get them prof. installed -- they're a biotch --

-- unless you're really talented with a hanger --

e

Do either of your sources have the pattern for the 95-97 front seats?

Thanks

Vince

vince the answer is yes. this is a rate for either pattern.

What's the hanger for?

Eric...

How much did you pay to have them installed? Or should I assume that you are now very adept at hangers and their various uses. ;)

from what i remember, it's for connectinv the underpinnings of the cover with the seat (pulling) --

-- the things came with a "how to install" video, which pretty much (to me) means it isn't that easy --

haha -- i didn't install them myself -- had them professionally done -- $300-400 for 6 seats and 4 panels --

-- they said the panels were the hardest to install, ironically --

Odd that leatherseats.com says they need a pattern for 93/94, when they list a grey set for 93/94 on their clearance page? http://www.leatherseats.com/pages/clearance.htm sorry I realize I'm not helping here..

Mainly interested in the seat heaters.. Eric are the heaters that you have from this place, or do you have the ones from Slee? price is 1/3, but quality obviously matters especially when the install is such a pita. And Semlin to confirm, the heaters from leatherseats.com are $100 for the pair, and the heaters from NWAuto are $89 each? from http://www.nwautoleather.com/seat-heaters.html

People have used zip ties for that. Use the biggest ones that can fit. Though it is possible that the metal could eventually slice through the plastic zip ties.

I got my seat-covers here -- http://www.atd1.com/ -- there are various grades of covers, I was told -- the ones that heat the butt and back, just the butt, on/off, or hi/lo/off --

-- i got the butt/back/hi/lo/off --

-- the wiring was tedious, from what i remember them saying -- make sure to get a decent looking switch, too --

-- if you call that place, james is who i worked with --

Nakman the pattern they have for a 93-94 is a cloth to leather conversion. For the original factory leather seats nobody I can find has a pattern for the 93-94 although leatherseats does have a pattern for 95-97 original leather.

While all this is interest, can I maybe get some answers as to whether the quotes are interesting to those people who said they were interested?

Sounds great, Simon. I was planning on doing it at their regular price, so any savings beyond that is a bonus. If you want to shop local let me know when. Cheers, Greg.
