I found an off road fabricator (Ballastic Fabrication) who will make these brackets for a group buy. These are based on the design by Spressomon (Dan) but they will be made out of steel plate instead of aluminum. The brackets will be bare metal and you can finish them as you see fit (I will primer mine and spray paint mine). You will need to buy your own bolts and washers, but I let you know what size/grade works best.

The cost will be $50 per bracket. I prefer that you order a pair ($100) but as long as we total 10 pieces we will be able to do this. We may get a discount for over 20 pieces. You will also be responsible for shipping costs, so please factor this into your decision. I don't know for sure what the shipping is going to cost but I will try to narrow this down. I may be able to pick them up or Mudship the order to save some money?

You will need to decide by Oct. 30th. I need to have the $50 per FRB before I order but shipping can be figured out after they are done. Paypal will be preferred but we can work that out in PM's.

Dan made the following comment about the brackets:

"FYI: Recommend 10.9 hardened bolts and hardened/HD flat washer under each bolt head; and as you probably already know these FRB won't work very well with a factory bumper or risk cosmetic damage or worse. And lastly you need a 7/8" (1" pin diameter) D/Bow Shackle (REFA43479 from 4x4connection.com) per each FRB."

I will post some pictures soon, but I can't from this PC. I will update this whenever I have new information to share.

Will these units work for all LC100's years?

Looking forward to the pics

thanks for doing that for MUD.

(Maybe consider getting them ready for SnT in time and Mudship them there?)

Nice job, Calamari! It's always great to see more 100 series parts. Might this bracket fit on an 80 too? If so, you could reach your 20 piece goal much easier.

if you can get me the bolts Dan mentioned as well (at extra cost of course) put me down for 2 pairs (4 pcs total). it's really hard to source good quality bolts like that locally.

What thread size/length is needed for the bracket? I would guess that partial thread would be ok?

I just need one. I purchased another one from a guy on mud. Any one want to split a pair, let me know.

Thanks,

We are already up to 9 on the first day:)

I will price the bolts and washers. I'm sure they won't add much more. Couple bucks maybe?

http://www.mcmaster.com/ has M14x1.5x60mm hex head grade 8.8 in boxes of five for $14.22. I'm guessing on the thread pitch, it could be 2.0 fine thread, but I suspect it's not. Anyway, that's one source I use a lot.

eh, guys, save your OEM hooks for me, I can use them for tinkering...! :)

Back from a camping weekend and PM's answered. We have already hit the minimum order but you have until the 30th to decide.

FYI, class 8.8 metric is a tad better than Grade 5 SAE, but is not the same thing as Grade 8 SAE. In metric classes, you're actually looking for class 10.9 to get the equivalent strength as Grade 8 SAE.

edit: For bolts smaller than 1" in diameter, then class 8.8 and Grade 5 are the same. Also, I should say that all the mounting hardware that came with my ARB bullbar was metric 8.8, but I replaced it all with 10.9. I also used all 10.9 for mounting the winch and recovery hooks.

The big M14 OEM Toyota bolts are I believe class 10.9 (well, I think they mark the bolts as 11).

hey dog, is it possible you could source the bolts/washers and ship everything as a "kit"? PM me with what it takes to get myself two or three, not sure, should i put one on the back?

I'm still pricing the bolts, etc. but I'll let you know in a few days. Not sure how well these will work with your stock bumper unless you are planning a future upgrade?

planning a future upgrade, but if i ever do get stuck with the stock bumpers, i would at least rather be able to get recovered then be stuck and SOL! Stock stuff scares me, it looks so weak.
