So cans can fit into a Scepter jerry can. They'd make an awesome and sturdy cooler.
Beer + ice in a jerry can = good times.

Nuff Said!

Hi All:

Looks exactly like the US GI water can I bought at a surplus store back in the early 1990s!

i do NOT like that the scepter cans are plastic! i know they're supposedly durable and all but... but... idk.. i mean if money were no object wouldnt you go for the wedco over these?

I love how it says "property of US gov." and then at the bottom it says CANADA

As far as them being made of plastic is concerned i have no worries about their toughness.
I bet they would even survive if you threw them off a 50' building full of gas.
I just picked up 6 used ones on the weekend and was very impressed with the quality

?????

The military chose these over metal cans after extensive testing. Including shooting holes in them and tossing them in a fire.

I've retired or disposed of all of my metal cans except for a few NATO cans that I keep for the occasional run where I don't have enough Scepter cans but I don't want to haul 55 gallon drums. The Scepters are the best thing out there, hands down.

These plastic cans are tougher than any of the metal ones. If you haven't laid hands on one, you may think that they are like the cheap plastic fuel cans that you can buy in the hardware store to carry fuel for your chainsaw or lawnmower. They aren't. No similarity at all.

Nothing special about the Wedcos. Just a NATO knock off.

FWIW, the Wedcos are cheaper than the Scepters.

Mark...

Can't say enough good things about my new Scepter Fuel/water can's after my 30 day test upside down is the Vegas sun ! only one minor leek in a New water can, a little armstrong fixed that . once they warm up it seams you able to tighten up the caps a little more the fuel cans swell up in the sun like bloated dead animals . Leave a little air gap fore expansion ! I strap them down with tie downs on roof rack there sides never a problem.
I like the fact that they don,t scratch up the your paint job when fueling. and no paint /sealer or RUST !!! :D Dusty 66

Do you anticipate the ring cap getting brittle or breaking off ?

Its cool FJTex, Its great to know that we even have a choice. in malasyia they use old 2 ltr. coke bottles for storage. of course they also will do the same teraine that we do on a motor scooter.

We sell these cans and I can assure you that you have to do a lot to break that strap. Even folded backwards it will not break.

The military version uses different seals for gas and diesel, but the civilian uses the same (read, better) viton seal. The nice thing is they also come in 10L versions, which is really nice for water around the camp site.

SLEE POSTED ON MY THREAD !!!!:bounce::bounce::bounce::bounce::bounce:

Just to let you know I would have purchased my gas cans from you but sombody bought all of them the day before I called you.

I posted this in another thread but FYI, Scepter will not be selling the civilian fuel (yellow and red) containers much longer. You can thank CARB standards. You'll still be able to get water containers.

So would they rather have us use cans that spill gas onto the trails?
