I just installed a Baofeng UV25 in the ashtray. I have a bunch of the Baofeng handhelds and a Baofeng UV50 at home as a base station so it just kinda made sense from a channel list / programming standpoint. 25 watts. Covers a good portion of the VHF and UHF spectrum including 2 meter Ham, 70...
I've still got it. It's hanging on a magnet above my workbench as a constant reminder to me not to make assumptions when troubleshooting......It's a Factory Toyota "Denso". 6 years old (purchased from Toyota in 2015). 5,500 miles ago (yeah, I know, I've been busy!). I didn't see any obvious...
Found it!
I've already wasted enough of your time, and THANKS everybody for the responses. But, I'll document the rest of the troubleshooting in case it helps somebody else someday.
I figured I'd test the last few remaining things before the compression tester arrived (and before vacation)...
Thanks for the responses. I've ordered compression and lead-down testers. Unfortunately (or fortunately??) we're leaving for vacation for two weeks so I won't be able to test it before we leave. Now I'll have to worry about it the whole time.....
The truck sat un-used for over a year before...

Sorry in advance for the long post but I’m trying to document all my troubleshooting to date. I was heading home from a trip and the truck began running rough and the CEL came on. The CEL light would blink under heavy throttle indicating serious misfire. I plugged in the...
Here are a couple pix of my drawer setup. I actually like the height of the fridge. It is accessible by the guy in the back seat and he needs a job anyway. I mean he's not drivin', he's not navigating, he can at least hand out drinks! Plus, when camping, I just leave the side window open for...
I have mostly Craftsman tools in the garage but I wanted a portable tool set to keep in the cruiser. I ended up buying a Cresent brand tool set at Costco. I'm usually a little wary of "all in one" sets like this but the tools looked to be pretty good quality. I got it home and opened it up...
I installed a Mean Green alternator about a year ago. They do NOT put out 200 amps as advertised. I measured the output at various RPM's and I cant remember the exact data but the max output is right around 80 amps (close to stock). They fit fine and work OK but you won't get any extra output...
Here is my drawer system. Constructed of 3/4" no-void plywood covered in rubber-backed carpet. Drawer slides are heavy duty full-extension units. More details in my ROTW (link on the signature line).
Landcruiser NW does good work. I think they mainly focus do fabrication work but I had them install my lift and just had them re-weld my swaybar bracket. I'd recommend them.
OK. So here's the deal. I figured since it didn't make the clunk before the axle work, it has to be something I put together wrong. After double-checking that the wheel lugs, wheel bearings, and steering arm studs were not loose, I thought maybe the c-clips didnt' engage in the stub axle and...
:) Yeah. It turns out I was transporting some 10' 4x4 posts in the rig and every time I turned a sharp corner they would slide across the top of the back seat and hit me in the head!! No, really. There is a mechanical explanation.
Keep guessing. I know you can figure it out. You guys...
Let's play a little game of "Name that Clunk". I found my problem last weekend so this is purely for entertainment purposes. I'll post the answer tomorrow.
The drivers side wheel was making noise for some time so I finally decided it was time for a birf job. I went whole hog and ordered...
My dual-batt setup consists of the following (see more details on my ROTW):
Hellroaring Isolator
Optima Blue Top in primary battery position
Slee washer bottle relocation kit
Factory battery tray (for earlier FJ 80) for passenger side
Mean Green "Hi Output" Alternator
I went with...
While wheeling a couple of weeks ago, one of the hard brake lines failed at the connector just before the caliper (Right front). In my hurried effort to pinch-off the line to prevent the remainder of my precious brake fluid from draining onto the ground, I appear to have inadvertently cut the...
I ordered mine from Apache on Jan 16th and it still hasn't arrived. I don't know what their deal is. I haven't tried calling yet but it sounds like they don't really answer anyway. I dunno
Slee Step Sliders with Slee caps to tie into front fender flare. Love the sliders but the caps don't seem to hold up very well. I don't think the rubber is very UV stable and they are torn easily when wheeling.
