Here's a an exploded view of the "Steering Column & Shaft" with the OEM/Toyota part numbers.
I'm in need of the Shield and Cover (Parts 45253 and 45254), but both of them are discontinued. If you know of an after-market solution for these parts, please share what you know.
Does the 1972 FJ40 3-Speed have an Inner Boot for the Transfer Case Shifter? If so, do you know where I can buy the OEM or After Market replacement?
For clarity - I am about to buy an Inner Boot replacement for my 3-Speed Shifter and I noticed that my Transfer Case Shifter does not have an...
Thanks for the headsup on that gasket. Not only did I not have one originally, but I overlooked it on the parts list.
I'm starting to think that I didn't need a new m/c, but rather a new gasket.
For the record - the gasket here in this '72 FJ40 parts list is listed as 47275.
Every time I press the brake pedal, some brake fluid leaks from where the master cylinder connects to the brake booster.
The attached pictures shows the location where the leak occurs (at the red arrow).
I've confirmed that the master cylinder is tightened.
What can cause this leak to...
Yes. The problem with mine was with the teeth of the gear wheels. The teeth are wore out such that the gears don't bite each other.
So, for me, taking apart the regulator and doing some lube/cleaning wouldn't have fixed the problem.
I just completed a steering knuckle rebuild and it dawned on me that I did not grease the spindles.
Are spindles supposed to be greased? If so, I will have to go back in there and grease 'em up. However, if the lack of grease will do no harm, I will just leave them as is.
The attached picture shows a leak in the pitman arm area of my '72 FJ40.
I would like to fix the leak, but I don't know what parts I need to fix it. I was assuming there would be some kind of gasket or bearing. However, after looking at SOR's page, I don't see any type of part that would fix...
Yes, the clips are missing. Unfortunately, out of the four u-joints that I bought from JTO, only three sets of clips were shipped to me. I contacted JTO and they will mail me the missing clips today.
Uh-oh! I actually did slide it all the way off to make it easier for me to install the u-joint and to install the dust cap.
How bad did I screw up here? - or, what is the issue that I need to worry about?
:bang:
While installing new u-joints, I noticed that one the yoke flanges can easily slide off of the shaft while the other cannot.
Is it normal for the flange to be able to slide off easily?
For whatever it's worth, I just picked up this expansion plug from NAPA for $0.88.
O.D. (Inches) : 1.378"
O.D. (Metric) : 35.000 mm
I haven't installed it yet, so I'm not 100% sure it's going to work.
