i have two unrestored 40's, rust free, that i like to use as daily drivers here in the dry desert of central oregon. i wanted an agreed value policy only that would allow me me to drive daily, AND not have to be garaged. hagerty, state farm all required proof of vehicle being garaged. state farm...
as Racer said, i bought and installed one in early june. straight up install. half day of work. i would definitely want a second set of hands to maneuver shaft in engine bay. other than that, it simple. direction are clear. it tucks away nicely, so good that if you don't know what you are...
i saw that on eBay, i am in oregon too. i am curious as to how long the third owner owned the vehicle. over the last 2 yrs or so, i have seen several 40 for sale on eBay, and craigslist with very similar pictures and backgrounds. all from the same area. nice 40, congrats.
welcome to mud. i am...
shawn, i did as you said and nothing happened with the connector. but when a cut the connector off and just had bare wire the gauge swept over. so i think my issue is this. i cleaned up the bottom of the sending unit and touch wire to post and gauge swept. so from this i am concluding that the...
thanks guys.
danny, i did as you said, and i did see oil on the rockers, but it did not look like anything new was getting up there. so i went to my second 40, both 1978 2f. started her up, and did looked in oil cap, saw the same thing, and she has oil pressure according to the gauge.
i...
so i hop into my 40 today after sitting idle for 2 weeks. 2 weeks ago she ran fine with all gauges working, have never had an issue with engine.
today i pump pedal, pull choke, turn key. she fires right up like she always has. i scan gauges an immediately notice i am showing no oil pressure. i...
i called them toyota drivers because they are stamped toyota, with a toyota part number. and you are correct, they are made by vessel from what i have gathered.
hey guys-
i am a stock kinda guy. and i love trying to acquire everything needed to bring it back to when it rolled out of the factory or dealership. the hunt and search is as much fun for me as actually getting my hands on thing.
well, in the past i have purchased a large tool roll from...
the nuts should be welded capture nuts, like the ones that bolt the hard top to main body. same with the the ones going into wheel well. they should be permanently mounted. same with seat frames up front, etc. they are all over the 40.
hope this helps. now if PO modified it, you are on your...

i looked into different proximity sensors. the photoelectric type would have been ideal, but size and cost were a downfall. plus i was not able to find any that did not require me to drill or need its own power source. i found this site helpful in explaining different type.

is it just me, or does anybody else go to roger's site and just drool over everything he has accomplished in making these unobtainable parts and his ability to find "unicorn" parts? i know i have spent a few paychecks with him and will continue to do so. his products are incredible.
thank you...
part number is 09200-00011
i borrowed this picture from a tool roll thread.

honk hit this one on the head Mark. this is her 40. daily drives it to hospital and back. and since she has a bad hip, she asked if she could have entry/exit lights so she can see where she places her foot. i know your comment was said tongue in cheek, she actually got a laugh out of it.
she...
so my wife asked me if there was anyway to have enter/exit lighting on the 40 so it would be easier for her to get in and out of in the dark. i said "let me think about that." so i came up with this. i did not want to drill for anything, and easy to remove if need be.
for lights, i decided on...
