Something so simple - carb fix

Thanks. Have you tried loosening the two screws in the plate and repositioning it? May also be a bent shaft.

Yeah, big win on the choke problem. Knuckles, not looking forward to it but the time has come. You still collecting 40s. I know where one is near Twin Bridges MT.

Something so simple - carb fix

I have had trouble cold starting my truck for several years now. I have been very busy building a sprinter conversion and have been neglecting the 45. I would have to pump thee gas pedal 75-100 times to get the old 2F to start. Anyway, the van is pretty well done and I'm back looking at the 45...

    I'm Going All Coolerman

I don't remember. I'm not even sure I measured what he sent me. I just told @Coolerman what truck I had and what I wanted to do and he hooked me up with all I needed. It was very reasonably priced, probably no more than I would pay for the materials at my local auto parts place, and everything...

'76 fj40 windshield frame wont fold down

Keep trying with a good penetrating fluid, which WD40 is not. Don't be too hard on it as you may crack the glass if you twist the frame.

    Piston / Cylinder clearance - 2F - is 0.004 too much?

A common mistake on the 2f motor is putting HG on backwards. You end up covering one of the oil galleys that feed the head. I don't believe the cam has anything to do with oiling the engine.

    Just inherited '82 FJ40

Nice score. Just remember you have to shift the transfer case stick AND turn the wheel hubs to get 4WD. It's the old school way.

    Bent Axle Housing - maybe?

Got back at it yesterday and had had great success at drilling into the studs to get my extractor tool to work. I had enough spares to get the axle secured as it was, and we will see if they hold. Fortunately I have a spare housing that I can install if these new studs break as well.

    Bent Axle Housing - maybe?

You can see how far in the holes that the studs broke. I'll try looking for a left hand drill bit. A shot with the axle removed.

    Bent Axle Housing - maybe?

I pulled the axle and they are all broken well into the holes. I don't think I can be hammering anything in there without doing lots of damage to the threads.

    Bent Axle Housing - maybe?

During last year's trip to Cruising in the Woods I broke 4 of the 6 axle studs on the drivers side. I don't know when exactly and only noticed it while unloading the trailer after we got home. At the time the nuts just appeared to be loose so we snugged them down and I drove home. Three of the...

Cooper St Maxx tires - rubber cracking

These are my ST/Maxx mounted Sept. 2020 on my 45. No signs of cracking and the 45 lives outdoors year round. They have been a great tire. However, on my AWD van I put the Falken Wildpeak/3. The van sees a lot more highway than off-road and I figured they might be a bit quieter. They also...

    Correct Colors?

I'm pretty sure the colour codes are in the FAQ in the 40s forum. There are some early years where the roof was the same colour as the body I believe.

    Baja trip early June

Mexico is way behind even the US in CV-19 mitigation. In June they will still be in full lock-down mode.

Getting BJ40 from Costa Rica to USA

Hi Rob. Welcome to MUD. :flipoff2: You will probably get a faster response by posting this in the Chit-chat or 40s forum. The import forum doesn't get as much traffic. There are forum members in every country between the US and CR, so you will probably get some good and rapid advice. Good luck.
