Is THIS what my tranny fluid should look like!? *pics*

Just took my 2002 Prerunner to AAMCO today for a transmission flush and refill. They said they filled it with Toyota T-IV fluid. I took it home to check out what the fluid looked like. It is shown below on the LEFT. That looks quite dark to me. Is that normal for T-IV fluid? For comparison, the...

***PICS*** How do my brake pads look?

Well, my plan is to replace both the pads and the rotors. Then I plan on doing a complete flush and refill of my brake fluid. The truck has no problem safely coming to a stop. Wouldn't it be very apparent if i had a frozen piston? And is there anyway to test for a frozen piston before replacing...

***PICS*** How do my brake pads look?

I checked the other side of the vehicle, and one of the pads is below the indicator mark. This is the same one that seems to be squealing. I figure I might as well replace them all.

***PICS*** How do my brake pads look?

Okay, that's what I figured. From what I've been reading, it sounds like the rear pads last an exceptionally long time. I'll give the front pads a couple more months, then I'll be changing them out, along with a complete brake fluid flush. Thanks for the help

***PICS*** How do my brake pads look?

Great, thanks for the info! In regards to the rear shoes, it looks like there's about 0.25 inches of pad left. Any idea how long this will last me?

***PICS*** How do my brake pads look?

Just today I started hearing some brake squeal. I pulled off the front wheel and snapped a picture of the pads (shown below). I also opened the inspection hole on the backside of the rear drum and took a picture of the shoes inside the rear drum (shown below). My question is, how do these look...

Are these SMOG Test Results normal!?

Haha, I might move if it wasn't for the ocean and my family being here. And yes, the truck was driven for 20 minutes before arriving and was left idling before put to the test. So based on that, I believe it was plenty warm. My only thought is that I have a failing sensor somewhere. And the...

Are these SMOG Test Results normal!?

Some of these figures seam awful close to the failure threshold. Any ideas? It's a 2002 prerunner with a 3.4 and an automatic. 115000 miles. Check out the result in the attached picture. Thanks!

Complete cooling system flush for tacoma (3.4 V6 5VZ-FE)

Cool, thanks. That's exactly what I did. When I went to refill I came up about a half a quart shy of the 10.5 quart system capacity. Meaning I have slightly more antifreeze than water. I assume this shouldn't be a problem.

Should I switch to 5-30 oil after 100K miles?

Okay, cool, thanks guys. Yeah, I probably do 70% highway miles and 30% around town. Up to this point I've been using normal Mobil 1 5-30 and running it for about 7500 miles. No problems thus far.

Should I switch to 5-30 oil after 100K miles?

The guy at autozone was saying I should switch to 10-30 after the 100K mark. Any truth to this? I already have a case of Mobil 1 extended performance 5-30. It'll be fine, right? I've got an 02 tacoma with a 3.4 and 112K miles. And while I'm at it, can I really go 15000 on the Mobil 1 extended...

Complete cooling system flush for tacoma (3.4 V6 5VZ-FE)

Cool thanks! I found that as well, and I'll use it as a general guideline. They just don't mention the coolant drain on the engine block.

Complete cooling system flush for tacoma (3.4 V6 5VZ-FE)

I've scoured the Internet, and have come up with no complete answer. I'm looking for a good write up for how to do a complete cooling system flush on my 2002 Tacoma V6. Something that includes draining both the block and the radiator. Anyone have some links to a good write up? Thanks

**Pics** Chrome to "Brushed Aluminum" finish on front grille shroud

So I've always disliked the chrome accents on my truck. I took the chrome finished grille shroud off and went over the whole thing with water and a scotch brite pad. I was really pleased with how it came out and thought I'd share. Anyone else done something similar?
