FJ40 rear axle with disc break brackets and rotors. There are no calipers. The brackets are set up for gm/chevy 1/2 tons brakes. The carrier is an ARB. It holds air very well. The pinion is coarse spline though and the flange for the driveshaft is a little wobbly. I do have a replacement flange...
I've used both the front and rear disc kits and they both worked great but I ended up switching out the front kit for mini truck knuckles because I needed something stronger for 37" tires, as long as you're happy with coarse birfs, I wouldn't see a problem with running the kit.
I run unbalanced 37" mtrs with very worn down tread with only power assist and no steering stabilizer and never have an issue at any speed up to about 80mph. A stabilizer is just a band aid.
The balls on the ends of the 80 series axles must be bigger since they have bigger birfs. You would have to swap those too...you might as well just run a minitruck axle if you want the 8" diff.
I have a ball valve for a parking brake and it works for a while (week at least). I was worried about a normal line lock not releasing so I put this in and have had no problems. I just searched on google for one that would handle 2000psi for the cheapest price.
I got some wiper arms from a vw bus at the junkyard and then cut and welded them to fit the length and angle. I can now get replacement wiper blades at kragen's. :D I think I need to rebuild the wiper motor though because it's reallllly slow
I installed some earlier this year... they worked pretty good. Only after I flopped my cruiser a few times did I start getting oil coming out of my knuckles. I just bought new ones for my new housing to replace my bent housing :D
It gets almost as hot here in california. I run a huge aluminum radiator with a mechanical fan with a shroud and then a 16" 2100cfm pusher fan on the front for when it gets really hot. In 100+ heat it stays 200-210 unless I'm trying to get up tough obstacles and going full throttle for a while...
