Travis,
FJcruiser is looking cool. I am designing a custome bumper right now, based somewhat tightly on the expedition 1 bumper. Any chance I could come take a closer look at that beast, grab a few measurements?

Now for the reason for the post. First of all I did not realize that this was going to take quite so long and be quite so frustrating. I have changed out a dozen clutches in various vehicles, including a couple 40s ... this was a new experience. I had to remove the door trim, to remove the...
Hello all!
I acquired a 1979 FJ55 a few years ago, I rarely drove it because the clutch slipped pretty bad sometimes. I assumed the clutch was worn completely out so I scheduled it for replacement and now a couple years later.. I am getting to it.
To start out... This is my pig, awaiting...
UPDATE!!
Hopefully some other smuck will read this one day and not follow the exact path the first smuck followed (that would be me)
The Rock auto tie-rods are not the right ones. Plus they have them online but none available.
If someone is reading this I recommend the following. Contact...
90% of people I have talked to seem to believe it is a good idea to mount a roll bbar or cage to the floor with backer plates underneath the floor that are tied to the frame. This is not a good idea. it will likley work well to protect you, but it is not a good idea. The landcruiser body is...
I guess I will throw my $.02 into the discussion. There are very few materials that can withstand being pelted by the sharp crushed stone we use to cover our roads. in addition even the best coating materials will tend to get brittle in temperature colder than -40F. The good news is Fairbanks...
No trailer!!

78fj40MG - Wow, thanks for that, that is quite the compliment!! I do enjoy fabricating and mechanicing, it is a fun healthy hobby. I like all my rigs too. but I must admit I have a few not...
We will see what mine is, I am fairly sure I have at least one spare 4 speed I have no idea what year it came out of. It was one of my parts trucks and they were all mismatched and modified before I got them.
Does your friend on Van Horn have a welder and what-not? I have a shackle reversal...
self hijack!!!
uhg... I just accidently erased (accidental refresh) a long post I was making!!! VER VER frustrating.
Anyhow. On this post I will further hijack my own thread by telling about my build plans for my fj55. If the erased post I gave a bunch of discriptions of some of my rigs...
Lasjcat saved me!! I was about to do the unthinkable... I think I have a 4 speed and T-case i was going to offer it to ya... actually I probably still will. I like my 3 speed and stock t-case in my 71. so my spare trans are not likley to see much use. When your ready to work on the frame let...
