You do not need back pressure for a diesel. You need to evacuate as much heat as possible. I wouldn’t think twice about going with 3” on a NA 1HZ and probably will in the figure as I have a bunch of the stuff laying around opposed to 2.5”

You'll idle will actually kinda pick up the more you do it. Be extremely careful of a run away when doing this though.
The revs i believe hold a bit when you rev it up before coming back down. If it does that you have to back it off.
All the max fuel screw does is advances the fuel curve.

My H55f HZJ77 with 255s @ 100km/hr was 2250rpm.
My advice to you because you want to road trip the thing is put the set off gears that don’t affect your high range. You’ll enjoy the rpm drop for interstate/highway use...
