    FJ-40 Rear Brake Drums

I went to have the rear brake drums turned today at my tech school. They returned them to me after about 10 minutes telling me they couldnt find the specs on the drums. Im assuming they were talking about the specs as to just how much you can have them turned or something like that. Would any...

    Brake Problems...

Well... the FJ-40 rear is on my Patrol... ;) Many Patrols met their fate due to the rear ring and pinion gears in the stock rear diff wearing prematurely... :(

    Brake Problems...

The hex-head of the bleeder valve's corners are totally rounded. Un fact, so rounded, you cant even tell it ever had sides on it... I was rummaging through my friend's tool cabinet and found a working propane torch, still in the box. Will that work? After having rebuilt the wheel cylinders, I...

    Brake Problems...

Okay, one of my bleeder valves will not come loose. When I got the rear axle, that one was stripped out. So far, Ive tried PB Blaster, Heat Gun, WD-40, Vise-Grips, and even a small pipe wrench with no luck... Any ideas? Also, is there a special pattern you have to bleed them by? One my friends...

    Wheel Cylinders

Yep... I told them 70... would a kit for a 71 work? The only difference I know of is the brake fittings... they went from the 9mm fitting to the 10mm fitting, or so Ive been told... Stupid drawbacks... seems like ever time I get something done headed towards roadworthiness, something else comes...

    40 rear axles

Just how strong are FJ-40 rear axles? Just to give you an idea of how hard I wheel... If I cant crawl up a hill, Im gonna give it more and more gas until I finally get up it... so it may involve some pretty rough landings, but I wont be trying to launch it up in the air or anything... What do...
