Nice work, enjoying the pics of the repair you are doing. I have a 79 that the previous orwner ran through the ocean and didnt wash it down after wards. Its got some finder rot
Have you tried Toyota media distribution. Based in So cal 1-800-622-2033. I have been able to get factory manuals from them and they are pretty reasonable.
Splangy are you a speaking from professional advice or personal experience? I am only asking because there seems to be a lot of people speaking from others threads and not personal experience. Also I only want to take the cruiser apart one time to repair and replace panels. Thanks not meant to...
Thanks I will keep that in mind. I talked my dad into using rust bullet on his 61 vette. He is putting custom steering and suspension on it and it's bare metal parts. I wanted to coat the I tire tube of my 40 with it after sand blasting.
Just found this thread and its been really helpful. I want to take my 79 down to bare metal and primmer it with rust bullet but wasnt looking forward to brushing it on the under side of the tub. I assume it can be used on bare metal without using a product like veri-prime to self etch the metal...
I thought I saw a similar set of gauges at SEMA this year in the Dakota Digital booth. It was nice to see some Fj 40 stuff in all of the street rod booths.
You should email D'Animal . I bet there is no one on earth that knows more about Stihl than Dan Hull. He has ton of Stihl repair posts on mud. Also he works for Stihl, I thinks if he gets a cut he bleeds Stihl orange. Good Luck
I was at SEMA this year and Rust Bullet had a new product that wasn't out yet but was a bed liner and sound damper material to coat the underbody and the inside of a vehicle. I have looked on their web site but there was no info on it. I was wondering if anyone else had a chance to see the Rust...
Roll pins at 90 degrees apart through the sleeve on one end might be a better option than welding. If you ever need to do any work on the steering shaft it would be less work to just nock the roll pins back out. It would be a lot less work than trying to grind the welds back off with out...
I have an 8/83 that I picked it up on a lean sale and salvage tag. It has power steering and supposed to have A/C but its been removed by a previous owner. The guy I got it from was going to remove the vin plates and try to register it as a pre-smog vehicle. Not the brightest po in the world.
This is the number for toyota media distribution 1 (800) 622-2033. You can get all of the service manuals at a fraction of the cost. Body and chassis, engine, emissions and I think maybe a supplement one too. Shipping isn't cheap but there is a lot of info in these books. These books are excellent
I had same problem with my 79 and pinhead helped me out a ton. You can carefully take the emission computer loose from the fire wall and look at the soldier joints. If they will have a black ring around the back of the solder joint if they are bad. I just soldiered mine carefully and then I had...
I have 91 pick up and it has always over charged batteries. It seems to boil the fluid out of the battery. Does the alternator just have a bad voltage regulator or could something else been going on?
I was wondering if anyone has experienced there windshield whippers running on there own? Fired truck up today and couldn't get the whippers to shut off. They ran til I got to work then shut off then when I went to lunch I couldn't get them to shut off. I gave up and pulled fuse. Any help would...
