This thread has some pics of using the Procar mounts on the bench seat frame. Not perfect, the passenger seat sits higher than the driver side and overall, both are a bit high.
72 FJ40 Procar Seat Install - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/72-fj40-procar-seat-install.1248187/
Hi @JustJay,
I attached the Procar mounts to the mount for the original driver side seat. It works and allows access to the toolbox but I don't think it opens as much as when the original seat was installed.
No bend on the B pillar. I don't have the hinges on my soft top doors but everything looked good when I held them up to the opening. Weird that those yellow header pieces have a different shape at the end where they meet the windshield. I think I'm good now since I found those channels that had...
Nice collection of bows. I went out to the shed to dig through parts and found the rails they had cut off the original door bows. Never knew what they cut them from until now. I'm going to weld these rails back to the original bows.
Looking closer at the red bows that came with the 40, it looks like they cut off the original rail for the soft top. There are little grooves in every spot there would have been a spot weld. Still weird that the yellow bows don't fit but I suppose I can either make the yellow one fit or remove...
Hello,
Tried searching but could not find a clear answer for my issue. I have a 72 FST that came with a hard top installed and some FST parts. I recently bought some bows and tried fitting today before sending them off for blasting and paint or powder coating. The pictures below show the...
Didn't think this would ever happen and about a week ago I was looking to see how much shipping would be on the Real Steel bow kit. My Craigslist search alerts have been running for around 5 years and never alerted on soft top bows until a few days ago. Super lucky/thankful to get this factory...
Nice 40! Bummer it has taken that long and hopefully she gets you your top. I left a message to get on her waitlist and never heard back. I'm going to order from Troa when ready.
Some things I used to fix/troubleshoot. Not sure how much vacuum tubing I ended up using, 2-3 10 ft rolls I think.

I just went through this, CA Smog - High NOx - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/ca-smog-high-nox.1294374/. That thread has a link to a modulator that works if you need a new one. I also pulled all of the vacuum lines from the metal "spaghetti tubing" and used the emissions manual to get each...
My preference is to get a charcoal soft top and bows through Julie if I can get confirmation that I'm on her waitlist. If that doesn't work out then I'll go with the tan soft top and bows from TROA.
Took it in with the new modulator and it passed! EGR valve gets stuck open pretty often which is messing up idle but it's probably been a really long time since that valve has had vacuum and any movement.
I now have a working VSV in place and ran the tests on the EGR vacuum modulator. I found another used modulator in my parts pile and also have a new one from ebay. Step #5b was successful, low vacuum at 2,500RPM. Step 5d was not successful, vacuum measured the same (low) at 2,500RPM. Results...
Thanks, I applied manifold vacuum direct to the egr valve and it killed the engine so that part looks good.
Good question, my gut feeling is since it's CA that answer is no but I'll see what I can find out.
Thanks @2mbb. Based on that information I did some testing with a test light and the circuit (ground) does enable over 1,500 RPM. I'm not sure what happened when I originally tested the VSVs and connection yesterday. I have an extra VSV, one of them is stuck open, you can blow air through...
