Non toyota paint colors!!! The good the bad and the ugly! Purists turn your heads

Those colors on the Bronco look great! I think it is hard to go wrong with green though... I lean toward green whenever possible. I do prefer a non-metallic paint on these old trucks. For my taste... it looks best.

Non toyota paint colors!!! The good the bad and the ugly! Purists turn your heads

Thanks.... and yes, it counts. Mine is 99% Toyota. I kept any parts that I changed. Like the turn signals and the center console. With a little red paint it could be returned to 100% stock. ....... but not by me!

Non toyota paint colors!!! The good the bad and the ugly! Purists turn your heads

When i restored mine I could have repainted it the original Freeborn Red. It would have been a lot less work. My problem was that i really didn't want a red truck...... I wanted green. If i had known about Nebula green ( a Toyota color) I would have used it. Instead, I went with a color that I...

Non toyota paint colors!!! The good the bad and the ugly! Purists turn your heads

Ron, It was in 2001 that i painted it. i can't remember the brand of paint. It was a high gloss though. Just doesn't show well in these newer pics. Bob

    aftermarket vs. OEM

I have original weather stripping on all my doors except the drivers side. Had to replace it. Used one from CCOT. It doesn't quite match the OEM. It also doesn't last. The OEM is more expensive.... but you only have to buy it once!

    Upper Radiator hose ..... blown!

Thanks for the input Anvil. I removed the hose from the radiator. It appears fine on the outside ( except where it split open) Not so good on the inside. The inner walls of the hose appear to be cracked and coming apart. New hoses are on their way!

    Upper Radiator hose ..... blown!

Thanks everbody for the replies and advice. I will check things out carefully. Claudia, I will be checking the water pump nd fan clutch just to be sure. I have a brand new OEM water pump and clutch sitting on a shelf waiting for the day it is needed! Tom, I restored this truck over a...

    Upper Radiator hose ..... blown!

I also noticed that the overflow bottle was empty. If I were boiling and building pressure, would this bottle be empty? Or is it more likely the bottle was empty because i was losing all my fluid out the tear in the hose ?

    Upper Radiator hose ..... blown!

So it looks like I may have a bad hose and nothing more. I use the same mixture of 50/50 .... distilled and antifreeze. The tap water here in CA will create stalagmites in the radiator!

    Upper Radiator hose ..... blown!

Thanks Tom, I've ordered a complete set of new hoses. Figured I would do all of them at once. I'm not feeling any play in the water pump. I think it is probably not the culprit in this case. Thought i would try a new radiator cap as was suggested by Living in The Past. So you think the...

    Upper Radiator hose ..... blown!

Oh.... I will try a new radiator cap also. Thanks The cap was dry ... no pressure being released at all. The steam was pouring out of the tear in the side of the upper radiator hose.

    Upper Radiator hose ..... blown!

Thank you . The hoses and radiator were new at the time of resto. But that was 10 years ago. Not a lot of driving time on them but 10 years of mostly parked time. I tried to use OEM whenever possible on my truck but i seem to recall the hoses were from CCOT. I'm hoping the problem is just an...

    Upper Radiator hose ..... blown!

Thanks for the replies. The truck has about 3000 miles on it since it was restored...... but that was ten years ago! All the hoses were new and a new radiator and cap. I'll try checking the water pump and clutch. Pretty sure the stock temp gauge is not working as well as it should be. It...

    Upper Radiator hose ..... blown!

I was driving yesterday and started seeing steam coming out from under the hood while stopped at a light. The Toyota temp gauge was in the normal position. Pulled over and popped the hood. Huge tear in the side of the upper radiator hose. Wondering what caused this? What should i check...

    paint color for front bezel

I think as long as it is white- ish and matches the color of the top it will look good. I had the paintstore match the color of a 1940's Sunbeam mixer to get the color that I liked.
