    Dad's Montana 80

That's how I feel as well. And your story sounds a lot like mine. Every time I take this 80 on a trip or make a modification, I ask myself whether he'd approve. I know he'd want me to drive it and make as many memories as possible. As @SNLC alluded to...these are more than cars to many of us.

    Dad's Montana 80

We've finally had enough heat the last week or two to melt the snow on some of the local national forest trails. Went for a drive after lunch with the heat on and window down. Exercised the diff locks and just idled through the woods. Happy Friday.

Real time help: stranded in grand junction, CO

Make sure the distributor hasn't slipped timing? That 10mm holding screw *can* loosen and cause similar symptoms when timing gets way off.

    Cruise Moab 2024

How much snow is on the Abajos? I'm heading there fairly soon and curious what the high elevation trails are gonna look like.

No clue. Just ordered the bushings that they recommended.

    Dad's Montana 80

Interesting. I pressed in those bushings when I did the OME kit a couple of years back. I haven't had any caster/vibration issues with this lift, so I'll probably leave it alone. I will say that it was a PITA getting those in.

Knuckles are wrapped up. I went with Koyo bearings and new OEM rotors. This is always a satisfying project when I can take my time. Thanks, @cruiseroutfit for new kit.

New 2F Carb Recommendation - Winner!

Yeah, that's why I think it's odd that it wants gasoline with ethanol. Or maybe I read that wrong. I run ethanol-free in everything I own that has a carb.

    A thread about a white bread, stock 1976 FJ40.

The 40 has been waiting patiently in my shop the last few months. Finally got a chance to take her out for a lunch spin to the local deli with the mut today. This thing runs so well. Sure missed it.

Looking to buy….what are your thoughts?

Someone on here was looking at that rig a couple of weeks back. Has potential if you get it for the right price.

    Recovery Points for FJ40?

My old HJ47 had factory threaded holes on the rear part of the frame for a tow hook. I have never looked to see if FJ40s have this or not?

    Builds Project Pikachu: 1977 FJ40

Screwing around on our main road this morning and caught the snow bank with my ds wheel. Pulled me right off the road into waist deep snow before I could even react. Just had to dig deep enough to lock both hubs, which was ROUGH in flip flops, let me tell you.

Not to distract from this solid thread, but had a question...is it true that they don't salt the roads in Alaska?
