Thanks guys. I do not hear a click when I push the button so that is what made me think of the relay. I do not have the FSM just Haynes. I do not think it is the solenoids since I switched the lines and got no response that way either, but I will check the vaccuum with my thumb as you...
Can anybody teach me how to test my 4-wheel drive relay. When I push my 4WD button on the dash(fj-62) I do not get the engagement of the transfer case. I tried switching the hoses on the solenoids to see if one was bad but there was no change. I thought it might be the cold weather but it did...
IDAVE, did you have water in the shift diaphragm or solenoid? ??? My 62 did not work last night and is the first time I ever had a problem. should I take out the diaphragm and heat it up to dry it out? Thanks.
Yes it unbolts. IIRC there are two bolts on each side to the fenders and one in the middle? If I am wrong please correct me. I fixied it wonce from my first deer colision but have tyet to fix the second.
I am having the same problem(not engageing) as erfworm's sister. Am I safe to say if the light is not coming on the t/c is not engaging, and go from there?
Thanks Ming. My haynes book does not cover this well. Am I correct that each solenoid sucks the same diaphram in a different direction, and only for about 30 seconds to get the rod to move? If this is correct I am sure I can figure it out. I do not want to give up but it sucks always lieing...
I am getting discouraged. It seems like one thing after another. I do not want to give up on my cruiser but it is getting the better of me.
We just recieved 4-5" of snow so I take the Cruiser(FJ-62) out to play and my 4-Wheel Drive does not engage ??? The hubs are locked and the button...
I forgot to mention that I also do nto run my air pump and just meassured for a shorter belt. One of my pulleys is not being used right now. When I get a new pulley for my air pump(long story) I will put a regular belt back on. I am sure I have spoken to much so I will go now. HTH
Anybody know if there is supposed to be a doughnut gasket where the pipe meets the manifold? Mine is leaking at that point on the front connection, and does not look like there is a gasket in there?
With out the proper caster the truck is no longer keeping the wheels straight for you as you drive. Because of this you are no longer fighting the correct geometry of the steering system. The down side is that it is easier for the imperfetions in the road(such as ruts and such) to steer the...
Be prepared for a long post.
Background: This vehicle has a new starter, alternator, fuel filter and complete tune up(plugs, wires, cap, rotor) with in the last two weeks.
It was around zero degrees F last night. This morning I start the 62 up and it starts great! however the high idle kicks...
For reference and what it is worth, I purchased my fj-62 for $3000. It is a 1988 had 117,000 on it, but it needed new springs, exhaust, and had normal rust behind the wheels. After I hit two deer it is starting to shape up quite nice ;).

Is there any rust that I can't see from the photo on the passenger fender. How much you want for it? Are you getting rid of the roof rack also?
Re:1987 FJ60 parts vehicle
Your right on the shipping it will be to much. YOu would not happen to have a passenger side fender without rust holes instead, do you?
