We welded a rear flange to the hub one time to get off the Dusy trail, so this "fix" seems ok as a very temporary expedient to continue to move forward. As a means to go wheeling, it's not smart for all the reasons mentioned. A broken birfield off the road, would immobilize this truck with no...
I'd be up for another trip out there next spring. It remains one of my favorite ever trips. I guess we'll need to see what the weather brings. This is supposed to be another wet year, but predictions more than a few days out, are not the most reliable.
With that said, I was up there in late...
I did mine at 110k miles. It was still good at the time. But the 100k since has been worry free. I can be in the middle of nowhere and not think about it. Eventually the OEM gasket will fail. Better to get ahead of it, Because if it fails, it may take your entire motor with it, This is...
Dang. Following along. Good luck Onur. 5 cylinders is no bueno. It's just wrong. Not balanced. But if anyone can make it work, it"s you.
Remember that guy on the Swell trip with Kurt in like 2014 that could not keep up? He had this motor.
The in cab control is cool (though failure prone at the switch) and the self jump is theoretically cool(though I've never needed that feature). But the 7610 is smaller, less expensive, less complicated and works extremely well. I installed the first one in 2015 and it's still going strong in...
What radio frequency are you guys going to use? I'll be there same time frame and maybe we can meet up. Going to start up north.
Ballarat sucks for camping. Open, windy, dusty and hot. I was just there last week on a motorcycle and no one else was there because it's dusty and hot.
I like fuses. They don't break, jam, stick or short. You do need to carry a spare though. So fuse what ever wire feeds the aux fuse box as close to it's origin at the battery that you can. The MRBF terminal fuses are great for this.
No, unfortunately. You have to ditch the stock linkage and use custom pieces. I got mine from 4x4 Labs.
And yes, you need to ream the 80 pittman, but it has plenty of beef so this is no big deal with the proper reamer that you can buy on Amazon.
I tried to post the Amazon link but ih8mud...
Tough to say. My FJ60 is so far from stock it's difficult to compare. But overall with the Chevy TREs, there is very little slop. They do have grease fittings. But lifted trucks on wide tires and wheelsm even with good geometry are not exactly precise steering machines. As you say, it...
It is so hit or miss. I have an Orion I bought used. Installed behind an SM420. It popped out one time (on the Rubicon going downhill in Big Sluice). Since then, @orangefj45 rebuilt for me and added twin sticks and it has not popped out since. It is such a desirable product that I hope AA...
This is the truth. I have an Engel 45 from 2003 bought new-still works perfectly.
I have another I bought used that is 30 years old. Still works perfectly.
Any other fridge, is less. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. This is a clear case where old school rules.
My bias is that...
Yes, which is why you should load the 100 tonight and leave once loaded for Utah. Meet Friday night. Bring Kris, she sounds like she can keep you on track. It will be great, we'l have food and wine and good times. We're not doing any hard core trails this time. Just enjoying the scenery and...
Right on. 80 and 100 is a good combo. The 70 can be the eternal project vehicle (EPV). And I owe Onur a weekend of help so when the 70 project gels I'm coming for a visit, that is, if airplanes are still flying then.
