Slightly off topic, hope the moderators will allow.
I’ve seen posts over the years from folks that have got carpet kits, to replace the carpet in their 80’s.
I’m the original owner of a 2002 Tundra. Over 300k on the OD, after 22 years, probably less work to just replace the carpet vs clean it...
I have a friend from church, knows I’m a Toyota kook, & calls me with any problems. He lucked into a VERY low mileage 1981 diesel mini truck. Freaks out with anything ….. because it’s a diesel.
His dash lights are out along with several other electrical issues. Doesn’t seem to me, anything to...
After the tranny was bolted in, we thought there should be at a minimum limp mode; 3rd & R, for the 6L80, and there was no response .
The tech had a plug that could bypass any harness modifications, and plug directly into the TCM. We then successfully flashed the factory programming. Now...
I am one of the original contributors to this thread in 2016. After many years of great fun in my 1993 with a 5.3 + 6L80 I finally screwed up my tranny. Coming back from hunting last year, soaked it underwater.
Seems EVERY the rebuilder in town had both 5 stars AND 1 star !!! I don’t want...
Does anybody monitoring this thread have access to Mitchell or Alldata ? I need to R&R a 6L80 tranny, and don’t have access to the shop resources I used to have when I did the swap so I’m going to have to find a local shop. However, it’s understandable that it may be a bit creepy for anybody to...
I have a 1980 FJ40. Original 2F. I have had trouble the odometer for as long as I have had the rig. Speedo is fine, but not the odometer. Several years ago I got a new OEM cable from the dealership, and it has never helped.
Any suggestions what I did wrong on the install ?
I’ve got all the speeds on my blower when it decides ….. to blow. So don’t think the resister is the problem
No climate control in my ‘93
Still a puzzle. If rough roads seemed to affect it, I’d say it was jiggling a loose wire connection. But it can go off, while we are just sitting.
Has anybody had a heater blower that runs then not? I can be driving along, and it just shuts off. I have replaced the blower, and removed the dash controls, cleaned inside the best I could. The buttons all have nice crisp snaps, between speeds, and redirecting air flow.
Blower off/on does...
I’ve done an LS swap and to minimize initial costs, I have stuck with the OEM air filter. It’s been a few years, added a snorkel and now rejiggering battery & washer bottle & it looks like I need something smaller than the factory air box.
Seems I have seen K&N air filters in roughly the...
The pressure switch is essential to the system, but isn’t relevant to how to ground & how to energize the relay.
I am converting an extra rear defroster switch on the dash to energize the system. When depressed, the switch’s light will come on, and send 12v to the pressure switch. If tank...
I am going to install an onboard air system. When I look at various wiring diagrams for installing relays on the internet, I get confused. (Apparently I must have understood them at sometime in the past, because I have some extra relays in my tool box !! ). There is a pressure switch in this...
According to the VIN on the tag from the salvage yard , this Sanden compressor is from a 1992 Dodge 3/4 ton diesel. And yes, electrical functionality is just for the clutch to engage
I’m putting an electrical component into my 80. For the purposes of my question, it doesn’t really matter what it is. It has a plug, with two spade connectors. (I’m installing an AC compressor modified to be on board air compressor)
I have an ohm meter, but not sure I can use it for much, other...
Occasionally I’ve had wet floors for as long as I’ve owned this 80. But here in AK, it’s frozen most the year , and I’ve ignored this issue. However now it’s dripping from the headliner beside the sun roof.
I ran weedwacker line down the sunroof drains in the front corners. Is there another...
You guys are playing chess, and it seems I play checkers. I don’t understand most of this thread, but throw this out if it hasn’t been checked, because it only takes a second to check. I had hesitation under heavy throttle, idle was fine. (Nowhere near the complicated problems on this thread)...
I may be wrong, but there might have been acouple different T-cases during the 80 series production run. I recall some folks perplexed with the positioning of the shifter knob. I suspected the Marks adapter was suited for only one of the possible T-cases. (But I could be wrong)
