not sure if you can do the diesel swap on those, you'll wanna check with the more experienced MUDders on here....but please don't put an AMERICAN engine in it...then its just not a LC anymore.
as far as help....:flipoff2: there's your welcome, and, as i'm sure you'll hear in the next few...
the FJC's are going fast. trying to get my mom into one as well, we'll have a cruiser familia, haha. '95, '97, and '07. interesting that '95's were the most produced, i would have thought the 97's, given that's the last 80 model year. damn i wish we had received more locked LC's in the states....
i've been brought up with Toyota Red as the be all and end all for coolant. i used it in my '86 Taco and will be using it for my LC tomorrow when i replace the radiator, hoses, clutch fan, etc....i just recently heard though that distilled water is better then tap water? i guess it prevents clog...
i have a stock '95 LC with ARB bull bar, no roof rack, and 31" BFG's. I just removed the spare tire entirely, and i haven't really noticed an increase in mpg. i'll make sure i track it though on the next tank of gas, let you know. i think right now i get about 13-15.
"I understand the J**P thing, thats what i drive a toyota"
kind of off-topic, but just wanted to say to sc40 that your sig line is by far the funniest [and true] i've seen. amen brother, amen....
also....the cluster light swap looks GOOD.
:flipoff2: welcome!
looks good man. i'm a newbie as well (just got my '95 a couple weeks ago), but i've been around LC's for about 7 years. they're great trucks, just make sure you keep up with the maintenance. as i'm sure you're reading, overheating, brakes, and head gaskets are always big...
yea look what you started here, lol, like a bunch of hungry dogs. :D very generous indeed though....its amazing all the little things we don't bother with but would always be nice to have.
locking diff's are not usually a must-have, especially if you are not going to be hitting the trails hardcore. i don't have them on my '95, but my dad's turbo'd '97 has 'em, and they are fun. :D
as far as the cruiser....doesn't sound too bad. engines are good for 300,000 +, so don't worry...
How do you like your custom headers and flowmaster exhaust? Big difference in performance? I had an '86 Taco that i modded with LC Engineering Headers and flowmaster exhaust...just wondering if its worth it for my 95 LC???
alvarorb.....saw your LC featured in Toyota 4x4, congrats. And some very cool pics, damn. the one with the snorkel and and roof poking out like a freaking submarine....wicked man
overheating i've heard is a big problem with the LC's, and can lead to even bigger problems.
apparently a blown head gasket is the worst case scenario...this has been drilled into me, so the cooling system is the first thing i'm looking at tomorrow.
that's what i'm doing! haha my new '95 has cosmetic damage to the front and rear bumpers (previous owner's wife was the daily driver, what can you do? :D ). I'll be getting the ARB front bull bar and reinforced rear bumper.
i agree, if for nothing else you're covering your own @$$. but they do look better on the LC then in the ad. good call.
I've seen the Australian clear corner lights, they look pretty sweet. Anybody have any experience with those?
