Hi,
some HJ60 gauges will work with the 12HT if and only if the gauge is the correct voltage. The engine I originally purchased in this thread was equipped for an HJ60 with Nato 24-Volt electrical system and the accompany gauge from that vehicle was also setup for 24-volts. You can't mix...
I hadn't logged in in several YEARS because of a nasty divorce and custody litigation. I am BACK!!!!
Your questions don't really belong in this thread though - because you are not fitting the same alternator.
What you need is to start a thread and identify the alternator you are using with...
Sorry,
I have been out of pocket with a bunch of personal matters.

I'll have to clean out the pm box another time....
UPDATE: Well, I haven't come up with a solution! I have been behind in improving the truck since it tipped over sideways and caused extensive body damage.... That is my first priority.
My current thoughts are to use a safari snorkel on the LEFT side, cap off the existing intake port and...
Updates: I now have all 12v 80-series tachs and one tach from my 1HD-FT (HDJ-81) diesel (thanks to buys from MUD members and my local salvage yard) .
The newest design is now about 1/2 the size of a pack of cigarettes. I am hoping to get the size further reduced so it can simply fit in...
Hi FjNoob,
I have a FJ60 tach and your sensor and I have spent several months experimenting with them on a lab bench. Your proposed wiring will definitely NOT work. The 2 gauges only look the same at first glance...but they are completely different instruments. If you use the IH8MUD...
Just found this thread. Following Crushers line of comments. I can relate my experiences from just my adventures of the renovation of my FJ40+12HT:

I have dealt with Dan & staff many times over the past 2 years during my 12HT conversion. He has been right on target with...

This is the tach from a early 1991 FJ80 (3fe under the hood).
It doesn't hurt the tach to bring it well into the red-zone since it is sitting on my desk instead of having an engine begging to slow down. ;-)
Bittersweet,
I have been really busy with the tach project! Several mudders have contacted off-list. I have now have 60/62, and early 80-series tachs working. I also have circuits for the 12HT, and GM Diesels. I am also getting the Small-block Chevy V8, Vortec V8, 1HD diesel...
Dan,
Yes - I understand this is not 'bolted-in'. It is definitely a sawzall or plasma-cutter removal process.
There is typically seam-sealer along the lip of this panel covering the welded joint. I am hoping someone has a cowl that has rust or damages elsewhere and cutting this piece...
Butch thanks again to you and all for the great times & laughs. Looking forward to seeing everyone at the roundup (hopefully with my rig!).
I can still taste the cigars this evening...I love it!

The transmission splines should be a perfect match. H and F engine series transmission splines geometries are interchangeable.
I --DO NOT-- know if:
1) the flywheel diameters match
2) bellhousing bolt-patterns match
3) Splined shaft length matches
