Hi ONSC folks!
I've been very fortunate to be the recipient of one of this year's travel grants from the TLCA. In looking at the seven events that were part of the grant program (two of which are our very own Relic Run and Logan's Run), the event that made the most sense for me to attend is...
On the way to pick up dinner this evening on 64E in Apex, I came to a stop at a red light. I heard skidding tires and wondered “where is that coming from?” BOOM!! The Tundra definitely fared better than the Subaru that hit me, as expected.
So……anybody have a recommendation for a good...
1977 FJ40. Replaced the stock carb with a Trollhole carb about 18 months ago. The problem actually started with the stock carb, but has continued after installing the THC carb.
Starts fine. Idles fine. For the most part, runs fine once it's moving. The problem is taking off from a stop...
Doing a little (belated) spring cleaning today in preparation for some new flooring going down in the house next weekend and I came across some really old pictures of the 4Runner, so I thought I'd start a "Before and After" thread to give people a chance to show how much of a transformation...
Tired or fixing my neighbor’s trailer every single time I borrow it. Don’t wanna spend a bunch, but I want a decent trailer to haul the 4Runner to/from events. Anybody have one for sale or have some recommendations for a local-ish dealer?
The wife and I took the Tundra down to Hilton Head this weekend to visit a good buddy of mine from high school and to transact some business. On the way down, my odometer crossed a threshold:
The strange thing though, is that on the way back home, the odometer looked like this...

Some familiar lookin' Cruisers in the article. Many of you met the article's author, Jay, at Logan's Run this year.

What? Oh, you thought I meant....NO... I mean the top on my 4Runner!! Sheesh!! Pervs.
So, I've been thinking of doing this for years, but couldn't bring myself to do it until now. After my latest flop, the driver's side rear pillar on Fort Knox is a bit tweaked. The tailgate window won't...
Has anybody considered getting antique plates for their older Cruiser? The reason I'm considering it now is because I got my property tax bill for Durham County and they've changed the assessed value on my Cruiser this year. Last year it was assessed at $560, so that's all I had to pay taxes...
Although, I've gotta say......it does make me a little nervous that there are 35+ year old vehicles on the road that don't get an annual safety inspection. I know mine is good, but who knows about the others.
It's been just over 4 months since I lost my co-pilot, Marley. It's been pretty rough, at times, but after talking it over with Erica, we decided that it was time to bring another dog into our lives. It was right about the time we made the decision that I got a call from my neighbor. She fosters...
It's been a rough 24 hours. I won't go into too much detail, but this morning I lost my best buddy, my co-pilot, my trail companion, Marley. I took him in for emergency surgery yesterday for stomach bloat with torsion. He was recovering, but went into cardiac arrest this morning and passed away...
Anybody have a piece of scrap tube laying around that they wouldn't mind giving up? Over the years of wheelin', I've gradually worn down the protective ring around my rear diff drain plug to the point that even my low-profile drain plug is getting spun out when I drag the rear over a rock. So...
11th Annual East Coast 4Runner Jamboree
Rausch Creek, PA
June 24-26, 2011
Totally low key, nothing formal, nothing really planned. Show up, camp, go wheeling, break stuff, drink beer, repeat for a day or two, go home.
Trails for all vehicle/driver levels. No fees except what it costs to...
ONSC'ers,
I'm looking to put together a HAMOM for September. I'll host it at my place in Durham - providing beverages and some stuff for the grill. I've already got all the necessary parts, but my August weekends are all spoken for other than this weekend, and that's a bit too short on...
ONSC'ers -
The July meeting is the Triangle's turn. It has been suggested to go back to our roots a bit and meet at the Cary Ale House. I think it's a great idea. We can park close to the Ale House for easy back 'n forth to the trucks, and enjoy a couple frosty beverages and some grub...
