    Replacing hub assy. Problems!

Ok so that fixed the problem as far as I can tell. When I was tapping the flange I must have bent it a little out of shape cause it was a bitch to get seated back on the axle. I drove it down the road and I didn't hear any grinding or metal to metal noises. Only time will tell. So either you...

    Replacing hub assy. Problems!

I've got the oil seal. I need the dust shield that goes on the end of the cv axle. Toyota ordered the wrong part again. Now they say they cannot help. Wtf? So I have to buy a cv axle to get the dust shield?

    Replacing hub assy. Problems!

Thanks for the picture! I think mine is definitely bent. I'll have to wait a couple more days to get the part. They'll have to reorder. 90304-83001 I think that's the part # for the dust seal. That part # is incorrect. ---update---

    Replacing hub assy. Problems!

No worries thanks for your help so far man. Also thanks for the tip for changing out seals. If I wouldn't of had this problem I would have left the old ones in.

    Replacing hub assy. Problems!

Is that picture of the cv axle and steering knuckle showing up? It looks to me like you shouldn't see the rubber in the seal so I'm gonna take your advice and tap it down some. I'm getting a new one tomorrow anyway. I think this will fix the problem. I've got it all tore down now so I'll update...

    Replacing hub assy. Problems!

I understand what your saying, but do you think as I was beating the hub off, the spindle was "seized" to the hub so as the hub was coming out so was the axle? That's the only logical reason I can come up with because the dust shield looks like should fit around the oil seal but it's just...

    Replacing hub assy. Problems!

There's a seal on the cv axle that butts up to the steering knuckle oil seal.

    Replacing hub assy. Problems!

Now you got me thinking.... That hub was rusted on there bad. I wonder if the axle got pulled too far out bending that dust shield on the cv axle as it was getting pulled through the oil seal. Thanks for the reply BMthiker. I'm talking about a dust shield "seal" whatever it is on the end of...

    Replacing hub assy. Problems!

Or is that right and I just gotta knock it into place?

    Replacing hub assy. Problems!

It is possible. I noticed yesterday that it has way more taper than the other side. The other side is almost flat. I finally figured out that it's some kind of dust shield that sits on the end of the cv axle. I'm ordering the part today and I'm hoping that it fixes this issue because this...

    Replacing hub assy. Problems!

I was replacing a hub assy on a 2008 fj 4x4. Got everything back together and tired the axle to 174lbs. Checked everything over and realized the steering knuckle grease retaining cap isn't seating. Doesn't look like the axle is seating all the way either. I have the right amount of threads and...
