I'm in the process of rebuilding my 74 and will be installing 4" lift springs with 1 1/2 longer shackles. The front fenders are factory and the rears are trimmed. What size tire and wheel combination can i run without additional trimming and still have room for articulation and steering...
Looks like black is the consensus. Cool cool. I've used rustoleum and krylon both with good reslults. Krylon dries a lot faster, dont know if thats good or bad thing really. Just want it to look right. Thanks for the input.
I'm going to be dropping my 78 2F into my 74 40 and I'm wondering what color to paint the engine when i get it all buttoned up. I'd like it to look original and don't know if F and 2F were different or 74 and 78 were different. i would think whatever 78 2F was would be best. Any...
Thanks. Ill keep thoee things in mind. I have a trusted machinist, would it be best to have him get parts and while I'm at it whi would you recommend getting a clutch from?
It is a late f and it's the one I've been running since Ive owned my cruiser. When I bought it I was given a 78 40 with the 2f. I have all the parts for it but I like the sound of running f intake and carb since Mark rebuilt my carb a while back.
I have a 74 f and a 78 2f with smog that both need rebuilt. Assuming both are re-buildable and in similar condition internally, which one should i overhaul and put in my 74 fj40? Ive heard of de-smogging issues, could this be a problem? Also would you run either factory carb (rebuilt) or try...
I was moving a boat in my back yard and was doing one of those multi-point turns to back it in a gate so i was doing a lot of shifting back and forth. This is not the first time itst happened but it is the first time i havent been able to jiggle the stick back into neutral. FWIW it wont stay in...
The last time had my cruiser out I appearently got it stuck between gears. I can not move the stick in any direction to shift it. It appears to be in neutral (it will roll freely but will not move under its own power.) Is this common and can it be easily fixed? Thanks
i know tires have been talked to death but im looking for some opinions since they've been out for a while on the bfg km2's versus swamper radial tsl's. Size will be 35 or 36 12.50 15 on 10 inch wheel. FWIW, bfg is $50.00 a piece cheaper at Summit.
Guess I have to agree with the 3/2 rule too. Mine are 32x10.50s on 7s. OK check my math, 10.5 times 2 equals 21 divided by 3 equals 7. I will say I wish mine were wider but I also wish they were taller so...go figure.
Don't pay any attention to poeple telling you to get an 80...then like me you'll want of those to help offset the things that annoy you about the 40. Better yet just plan on an 80 and a 40.
I currently have a no lift 40 with 1" shackles in the front and 1 1/2" shckles in the rear running 32x10.50s on 8s. No shims or anything and the thing drives very well. I'm thinking about a 1 or 2" body lift to clear 33x12.50s on 8s. Will this work? Good/bad body lifts? I need all the help I...
