Great thread! I recently retired to SW NM. I have wheeled all over AZ, and some around ABQ in college (LOBOS!) Been able to get out sporadically here, went over Mangus mountain. I am on my third Toyota 4WD since my buddy converted me from street cars to offroading in college. We had his...
How was your trip? I did a 5 night starting at the east end of the North rim. Stopped at different overlooks, working down in elevation until I got to whittmore. One of my favorite back country trips.
great thread! I have owned a well built 2005 Tacoma, a gorgeous FJ60, and now this stunning 86 4wD ext cab!
basics: 77k original miles 22RE auto ext cab. Plans are likely just a small lift for now. OME or a 5100 lift with a new leaf pack.
Glad you got her back! So I had an idea I wanted to float for theft recovery. Lojack isn't the best option for me because I move from area to area pretty regularly, so I was looking at the GPS tracking anti-theft products. Instead of buying one of those specialty products and paying a...

Using...
Do the north rim Toroweap overlook if you only have a day. Way less crowded, cool
Dirt road through Parashant, and stunning views. Its the narrowest portion of the canyon and really iconic.
The skywalk and south rim are both tourist traps.
Old thread, but the 1984 and 1985 Dakar videos are on youtube now. No sign of any Landcruisers in the 1984 video. The FJ60 makes an appearance in the 1985 production at 48:48.
Overall both year productions seem to focus on the Rothman Porsches and the Pacific Land Rover. Cool to watch!
