    Defying Orders

Thanks, I loved the brown on my old FJ60 (even if my wife referred to it as a poop brown station wagon), but this Gray 86 is so nice.

    Defying Orders

Great thread! I recently retired to SW NM. I have wheeled all over AZ, and some around ABQ in college (LOBOS!) Been able to get out sporadically here, went over Mangus mountain. I am on my third Toyota 4WD since my buddy converted me from street cars to offroading in college. We had his...

    Going to Toroweap this weekend

How was your trip? I did a 5 night starting at the east end of the North rim. Stopped at different overlooks, working down in elevation until I got to whittmore. One of my favorite back country trips.

Readers Rides, for pics and specs on your Toy(s).

great thread! I have owned a well built 2005 Tacoma, a gorgeous FJ60, and now this stunning 86 4wD ext cab! basics: 77k original miles 22RE auto ext cab. Plans are likely just a small lift for now. OME or a 5100 lift with a new leaf pack.

STOLEN Yet another stolen FJ60, this time its mine!

Glad you got her back! So I had an idea I wanted to float for theft recovery. Lojack isn't the best option for me because I move from area to area pretty regularly, so I was looking at the GPS tracking anti-theft products. Instead of buying one of those specialty products and paying a...

    What is it Worth REALLY?

Don't believe any numbers put up by enthusiast board members. They are always "optimistic" buyers prices. I have sold many vehicles with strong online enthusiast communities, they always underpriced everything. Selling nationally on ebay or auto trader yields significant price advantages in a...

Am I reading right that the marlin toybox is not in production for either the 4 or 5 spd?

FJ60 H42F on 31's: how to get a high final drive ratio and decent highway rpms

So- new to FJs and have been reading and planning. I would like to keep highway cruise rpms around 2700 but up my crawl ratio. So far the solution I am finding seems ridiculous and expensive. I want to keep RPMs reasonable at 65, and get my low range final drive much higher than stock. Using...

Definitely remote, which is a blessing and a curse.

    Need help...Grand Canyon Rafting recommendations

Do the north rim Toroweap overlook if you only have a day. Way less crowded, cool Dirt road through Parashant, and stunning views. Its the narrowest portion of the canyon and really iconic. The skywalk and south rim are both tourist traps.

    1985 Paris-Dakar 60-Series:

Old thread, but the 1984 and 1985 Dakar videos are on youtube now. No sign of any Landcruisers in the 1984 video. The FJ60 makes an appearance in the 1985 production at 48:48. Overall both year productions seem to focus on the Rothman Porsches and the Pacific Land Rover. Cool to watch!
