Hi guys,
I have a manual on order but it hasn't arrived yet and i'm just installing an ARB air locker in my rear diff. Thing is that i need the torque settings for the ring gear bolts and the bearing cap bolts. Also would anybody know what the standard amount of backlash is?
Any help...
I'm pretty sure i'm right when i say that if you have a one piece tail gate hinged at the bottom your body will not have the recess at both sides for the ambulance door to fit into when closed. This is how my '70 was and i had to cut and weld a recess in. Hope this helps.
Ok i'm officially a douche! I hadn't taken account of the fact that i had removed a rear axle and the front hubs weren't locked in!! I think i just learned a couple of lessons the hard way! Sorry guys.
Just in case you're wondering i took the rear axle out to make sure it was fully floating...
That's exactly what i'm saying. I was under the car yesterday trying to "brainstorm" when i put my hand on the front driveshaft and it turns freely then i do the same to the rear, so then i'm thinking if i'm in neutral this would be what happens and if i'm in gear i shouldn't be able to turn...
ok so I f'd :bang: up the transfer case is selecting but the clutch must be disengaged permanently some how or the pressure plate is just toast. The thing is if the pressure plate has gone why was it working, not working, working and now not working?? Either way the gearbox is coming out! :frown:
Ok i thought it might be the transfer case not engaging so when you said I should check it manually i was hopeful. Unfortunately the transfer case is engaging with the lever.
Any other ideas? There isn't any electrical stop that i'm missing is there??
Thanks again
Hi,
I recently bought a 76 FJ40 project that when i picked up and drove it onto the trailer the 4 speed box and clutch worked fine. When on the trailer i left it in gear and shifted it into 4L (i figured that if anything went wrong with the straps the car wouldn't go anywhere too fast) When...
Lup I have a perfectly good 2F and a 3 speed right here ;)
Not too sure on the k's, i'll check but i don't think it had such a hard life before being laid up.
I just got back from a 15hr stint at work which sucked a$$ but i did manage to pick these sand blasted and etch primed parts up at...
I'm sure you'd be welcome!
I'm actually moving to the US in around 2 years once my wife who's American finishes her PhD. The FJ will be moving with us :D
I have a 2.5" spring lift with standard shackles and run 113's in the front and 116's in the rear and there is plenty of extension.
Hope this helps.
Adam
Damn! You definitely have me covered! Sounds like you have your hands full with the house never mind the cars!
In all honesty i'm not really sure of the plan other than to get this one on the road asap. We don't have the room here for 2 cruisers but we're only renting and are actually moving...
So it was a pretty productive weekend. It took all of saturday but i got the suspension kit fitted and still managed to keep some skin on my knuckles! There seemed to be at least one difficult part on each corner that killed me on the time but overall given the age of the car it went well. The...
