I want to buy an Onboard Diagnostics Reader for my 100 series Land Cruiser (year: 2005). Any idea as to specs/models/makes, etc please and where to buy it? Thanks

This is a great little device for $10. It stays plugged in all the time and it's completely out of the way.

I am pretty sure it does everything the above dedicated units do only it displays OBD data real time to your cell phone (not a dedicated device) via an app called Torque.

You can build your own dashboards in the Torque app so I have various temp gauges on one screen then another screen for real time stats. You can also scan for codes, historical codes, shadow codes, etc...

Plus it's super easy to plug into other vehicles when needed and is totally out of sight, out of mind till you pull up the app (communicates with the dongle via BT).

Very handy, used it while traveling with boat trailer trough mountains, water temp was fine so not really interesting :steer:

It works: found faulty spark in cylinder 3 for VW Fox and found broken front lambda sensor in Subaru Forester.
Found Toyota clutch sensor code after a lot of traffic jam driving.

Here is the torq software if you want to try, old version by now but it works on android:
Torque APP V1.6.10 APK for Android download: (software came with bluetooth ODB)
blue-tooth code 1234

BTDT, mine died after a few months, that could have been my fault. I set it to sleep when the car was off to prevent battery drain, it never woke up. Before it's demise it paid for itself in time spent chasing codes. The torque App is very nice, it works with many BT devices and gives you many more options for what info is displayed than Scangauge.

Interesting. I noticed when my LC is off the little LED on the device would switch to red. How were you able to put it in sleep mode? Does the LED go off completely in sleep mode? To be honest, when the device came I never read the directions, just plugged it in and went on my marry way. I have had it plugged in for couple weeks now and haven't had any noticeable battery drain. Maybe I'll just keep it in the truck (unplugged) so I can mess with it on long road trips or when I'm hunting for a code...

As I recall the LED goes completely out, and never comes back on. I would not suggest using the sleep mode.
