03/94 fzj with rear drum? (1 Viewer)

anyone have any info on why a 94 cruiser I acquired has a rear drum brake set up? door jam sticker reads 03/94 year. no abs

Yes. For the FZJ80 years 93,94 had ABS as an option. If you have the abs option, you got the rear disks. Not having the abs option is rare based on the cruisers I've seen.
Abs became standard along with rear disks in 1995

No, semi-float like the 1991-1992 FJ80's.

Hmm, I have a 92 VX (from the UK), no ABS, but rear discs, drum is only for parking brake.

As other's have said, 93-94 were optional but rare. I personally have never seen one. You could always swap out the rear to a disc axle from a FZJ, it would bolt right up, but you won't have ABS. I am sure converting it would be $$ and more cost effective to buy one done already. But hey, you wouldn't have to deal with drums !

Good information. Having a '93 (with discs and ABS and wonderful cloth seats), this is news to me. I'd never heard this before.
