1979 BJ40 Canadian 24volt rig has a transplanted Aussie 3B engine casting number 11400-50810. The PO did some creative engineering to be able to shut it down using a choke cable and an eyebolt attached to a bulkhead which I am sure is not correct. Thanks Rudi, however, is it correct to supply 24 volts to the oil sender on a24 volt BJ during testing or is 12 volts acceptable on a 24 volt oil pressure system?

Rudi-back on post #28 you say to test the oil pressure sender with a 3.4 watt bulb connected to 12 volts. Is that also true for my 24 volt BJ Canadian spec with 3B diesel?

Follow-up information from post #1. Got a replacement oil pressure sender from my vendor thinking maybe I got a poor one the first time. Gauge works fine when lead is grounded. Installed replacement and still no reading. Am curious now about the FSM sensor test Hope BJ40green can set me...

Cannot find a diesel dipstick. Can someone measure the distance from the full mark to the metal cap on the handle for a 1979 gas engine and also for a diesel to see if they are interchangeable?

I hear you. Was hoping to make it work. Additional information—I reinstalled the old 12 volt sender. With the engine at off idle rpm, the gauge rose up to the first hash mark and then settled back to hiding out of sight. Not sure what that means if anything.
