Official "How long does an A440 last" thread

1988 FJ62 290,000 +/_ , with no cooler, some towing and no big problems. It does have a sticking valve I need to fix, so in winter it sticks in 2nd until it warms up for 2-6 blocks. Not a problem in summer or if it sleeps in the heated garage in winter. I can't find a shift kit or valve body...

    Warn Barrel Hub Question

Is the collar threaded on the inside? Maybe it screws off. When you put it back together, you could use a star washer on the one nut. I have a 71 manual (search IH8MUD) but I don't see that collar. Maybe it is a Warn part?

Need Help Finding Factory Part Number for Main Harness Clamp

Maybe you can look it up on this site: http://www.toyotapartsoverstock.com/ or another toyota dealer site.

    Drag link adjustment problem

The toe-in has only to do with the tie-rod, the lock to lock steering and the steering wheel angle can only be adjusted with the drag link and/or the pitman arm and/or the removal and re-install of the steering wheel. If everything else is okay (ie the steering gear and the steering wheel to...

    Fj40 Center arm question

Give us a little more time on the next question. Plenty of people will be happy to help. I did the same, and for any one else reading, the sleeve comes out after straightening the bent tab with a round punch through the zerk hole, the new sleeve tab is then bent with a round punch. It keeps...

best way to remove cone washers?

If these suggestions don't work, you can double nut the stud and turn it out a few turns until you can get hold of the now loose cone washer. By double nut, I mean put 2 nuts on the stud and turn them towards each other until they are very tight, then turn the inner nut as though it were the...

    Grab Assist Installation

To add to the confusion or reduce the apparent order of things, the front or a-pillar grab handles will fit in the back on the b-pillars and look nice and work quite well, also some 80 series pillar handles have the same center to center screw hole spacing, but I haven't tried the fit.

    Alternate B pillar grab handles

Search for another grab handle thread. There someone says the 60s sometimes have the holes and the threads, sometimes just the holes, and sometimes no b pillar holes. Sorry, but idk.

    Alternate B pillar grab handles

Some pics below. I returned the B pillar handles to the dealer, so I don't have them for pics or to sell, but they looked sort of like the A pillar handles only the angles were not as sharp, if that helps. They are not at all like the above the door handles. I should say that in my humble...

    Alternate B pillar grab handles

In my FJ62, the A-pillar grab handles, the B pillar handles and the over-the-door handles all have the same bolt spacing. So I ordered A-pillar handles for my B-pillars. If you want new B-pillar grab handles with screw caps (I know), order the A-pillar grab handles and they fit great, work...

    4runner brake install *pics*

anyone know about these calipers? On Amazon, it looks like Beck Arnley 077-0204S and Centric 141.44014 calipers both have 43 and 34 mm pistons, versus 40/40 for 4runners and 35/28 for FJ60s. The 43/34 would be ~94% of the 40/40 4-runner (if I can still do math), so about 94% of the physical...

    Desmog a IF-ZE engine

Everything I can think of reports back to the computer, which determines the air/fuel ratio, the injector pulse-width, etc. It seems like you would need to reprogram the ecu with your own custom program, or get one out of a foreign engine w/o pollution control to get it to run anywhere near as...

    Center diff indicator??

If everything is working correctly, the light should show. Try driving around a bit and make sure the CDL has a chance to engage. It's electric, not mechanical.

    Headlight Warning Device

I appreciate the trouble of a reply with the corresponding link. I didn't find this in my search. Now that I look closer, I see that Toyota did not put the headlight switch after the fuse, a bit of a - for Toyota, and a lesson for me. Thanks.
