2004 GX with rough idle, surging, and misfire

Thank you. I think I got it taken care of. That wire in the pic had been worn through and was causing a very intermittent crank sensor signal that wasn't throwing codes but still caused a misfire. The wiring itself wasn't damaged, only the insulation, so I patched it up with layers of liquid...

AC Temp 56 degree after shop diagnosed and recharged it

I just went outside and measured the temperature at the vent on mine, but it is 110 here so this may not be useful. Parked, idling, with the doors open and AC on max = 55°F. Driving, AC on max = 50°. Driving, AC on lowest speed = 34°; on 2nd lowest speed = 40°. I realized I never use the max...

AC Temp 56 degree after shop diagnosed and recharged it

When you spray the condenser with water, it can transfer a lot more heat than it does with air flowing over it, so it basically shows you how well the condenser could possibly work. That said, this "test" is not definitive, there is still a chance the condenser is a problem. You would need a set...

2004 GX with rough idle, surging, and misfire

Where is that wire supposed to be so that it will stay away from the belt?

2004 GX with rough idle, surging, and misfire

UPDATE: I charged the battery this morning just to be sure. There are no rodents or droppings, or chewed bits of plastic that I could find anywhere. All the sensors are OEM. I did not scope the crankshaft sensor yet, since that code hasn't returned. It seemed ok this morning while the engine...

AC Temp 56 degree after shop diagnosed and recharged it

They are sure they got the charge weighed in correctly? They vacuumed it down and charged it with the rear AC turned on, right? Try spraying the condensor with water from a hose while the AC is on and see if the vent temps drop. Seems like if it's clogged then there will be no difference. I...

    T-slot aluminum vendor in Phoenix/Scottsdale?

Browsing through the Industrial Metal Supply on 48th Street might give you some ideas. They have a good selection of aluminum and probably enough other stuff that you could throw something together quickly if you need to. That said, I don't think they have t-slot. 8020 sells offcuts on their...

AC Temp 56 degree after shop diagnosed and recharged it

Double check that the flapper behind the cabin air filter is actually moving when you push the recirculate button. Mine was stuck in the fresh air position, and here in Phoenix that meant that I never got cold air out of the vents.

2004 GX with rough idle, surging, and misfire

Our 2004 GX470 with 180,000 miles has suddenly started to run rough at idle and sometimes stall. I have not driven it anywhere like this, since it can barely idle. It started yesterday morning, when I started it for the first time after it had been parked for about 10 days while we were out of...

1UP BIKE RACK - SOLUTION FOUND!

I have not tried the Sherpa 2.0 but I have the Kuat Transfer 2. The rear door hits the rack even when tilted down; it needs maybe an extra inch to clear it. The fit guide for the Transfer 2 show 10.75" hitch centerline to top of rack when tilted down. If the Sherpa 2.0 fit guide shows 9.5" when...

    New windshield pros and cons

Would somebody who got the Fuyao windshield please post whether it is labeled with both "solartint" and "acoustic" in the bottom corner? And the part number too if possible. I got one installed today, part FW2366, but it is not labeled "acoustic". Curious to see if it is the same part others are...

What's wrong with my alignment? Front tires wore uneven

I have had mine aligned twice and both times the cam bolts were not torqued to spec (100 ft lb?), so that's another thing to double check.

    DIY - Dash Replacement?

Honestly, I would not go into it with the expectation that the results will be 100% perfect. That said, I have not done it myself. The dealership did mine and it took them two full days and I had to bring it back four times after that to try to have them fix various pieces of trim that they...

    Oil change hacks?

I have used an oil extractor on several other cars but could not get it to work on the GX, not sure why but it would just suck air.

Love my 470 but this damn thumping...

Yes, remove the smaller shaft from the larger. You probably don't need to remove the whole driveshaft. I can't remember but I think I only took apart one end, swung it down, and then slid the smaller shaft out. Mark the sides of the shafts first with a paint pen so they go back together exactly...
