Do you have any spec or link info on the type of nylon washers, a McMaster #? Thickness?

What year FJ40? Do you have the Toyota part numbers?

Very nice and glad you did a great job of documenting the process.... Headed along the same path but now at the mechanical stage... By the way a friend said he uses thin nylon washers between painted panels when he has done restoration (not FJ's). Will you be doing something like this? Also...

Years ago I had a new '78 and as I remember (who can forget their first love) it did not have gaskets (but I never took it apart) - However after taking apart the rack on my new to me '78 it seems that perhaps not when new but gaskets would probably be a good idea upon re-assembly.
