    2013 Tacoma Door Locks

A couple of days ago, my door locks quit locking when I step on the brake pedal. They lock/unlock by the toggle switch on the door. They never have locked when I start driving. I went to the local Toyota dealer, and they had no idea at all how to make the door locks work........ The problem is...

    Advice FJ62 Purchase

I'm looking at an FJ62 that has around 199k on it and the body looks in pretty good shape. Anything in particular I should look for that would be a deal breaker? I will do most of my own work on anything I find amiss, but I am wondering about anything made of onobtainium or a real bugger to...

    Heated Mirrors '04 Tundra?

I have moved from my 91 Landcruiser to an 04 Tundra. The Tundra doesn't have heated mirrors and I'd like to install some if it is feasible. Has anyone installed hated mirrors? I checked at the local dealership and the parts guy said I would have to change the entire wiring harness in the dash...

    STrange creaking sound...96 Tacoma 2.7

My '04 Tacoma ext cab was creaking and I couldn't tell where it was coming from. Sounded like a body creak. Found the jack in the tool compartment was slightly loose in the bracket, tightened it up and the noise was gone. It may be simple and not so obvious. YMMV, Dennis

    Help! New Birfield Doesn't Fit

Both birfields are new as are the drive flanges. I haven't driven the truck at all after I installed them. It was pretty obvious that the same problem existed. I installed new birfields because the right side drive flange and axle splines looked pretty well worn. I think if I had fixed the...

    Help! New Birfield Doesn't Fit

I'm Back at it Again I finally have a little time to get back into this thing again. When I reassembled the front end, I had a bugger of a time getting the left axle in. Me thinks that is a big clue. When I start the truck and put it in gear with the CDL engaged, no noise until I start...

    tap and die sets

You can grind an angled groove in a bolt for a "thread brush" and it will work fine. Just make sure the edge is sharp. Works great! Cheap too! YMMV, Dennis

    Help! New Birfield Doesn't Fit

The left side wasn't nearly as bad as the right, but I replaced both birfs and flanges anyway. I am concerned about driving it any distance, but I think I should try to get it somewhere with a lift so I can find exactly where the noise is coming from. Thanks, Dennis

    Help! New Birfield Doesn't Fit

When i first tried diagnosing the problem, I pulled the front driveshaft and drained the oil from the diff. With the axles removed, i could spin the pinion and it was butter smooth. There were no filings, chips or broken teeth that came out (used a magnet to fish with). When i first had the...

    Help! New Birfield Doesn't Fit

ARRGGGGGGGGGGGG! I think I have a bigger problem now. I finally finished the birf replacement. There was no doubt the right side outer axle splines and drive flange were shot. The truck was making a horrible racket, same sound as splines rubbing, not engaging, for lack of better terms. I...

    Help! New Birfield Doesn't Fit

OK, here is the whole deal. I purchased the birfields from George Stuckey, CV Unlimited, through fleabay. I bought them on Dec 8th. I neglected to leave feedback on Ebay in a timely manner (I didn't realize there was a short time period to leave feedback). I opened the box to look at the...

    Help! New Birfield Doesn't Fit

Now Another Frustration I figure its just me, but I am having a heck of a time getting the left axle to seat in the splines in the differential. It seems like no matter what angle, pressure or rotation I try, I can't get the stupid thing in. I don't think I am doing anything different than...
