Lots of cars and trucks have that; but on the '97 F150's like mine, which had it, the ehaust fumes/smoke took the finish off the plastic hub caps. The Ford fix, if you complained, was to add a length to get it out behind the wheel.

Every subsiquent year had the exhaust exit behind the rear wheel.

Never understood why people route their exhaust in that area.Just asking for it to get crushed, unless it is tucked nicely above some sliders and even then a rock can still get caught between the tire and slider.I like mine out the rear above the bumper pointing down if possible

Sawtooth. I'm gonna check your exhaust every time I see it now to make sure it is out of harms way.
check the laws first. In Utah to pass safety the exhaust exit must be past any entry/exit door. In front of the rear tire puts it directly under the back door. Other than being careful not to have it in harms way it blows hot exhaust on your legs if you are getting something from that door. I've run it there for a bit on an fj60, wasn't a big deal but didn't pass safety inspection when it came time to renew the plates.

I am not an exhaust master like Oinker, but having the exhaust tube welded in place may cause fractures at the connections on the muffler.Either way seems like it would protect it well.

When I had the stock exhaust manifold on my Pig, and the muffler still under the driverseat on the outside of the frame, I cut a hole in my slider for the exhaust pipe to exit in front of the rear tire. Still have the hole in my slider. Don't recall any fumes problem...
You'll burn your leg on it once before you remember not to do that again.

I am no master. I'd honestly be really surprised if it's legal in California to have an exhaust exit under a passenger door. I'm not from or live in California so I don't know. Can anybody answer this question?

Fortunately, no "safety" inspections in CA. But good point about the exhaust on a passenger. :hhmm:

Super strict emissions but no safety! Holy crap!

not an issue

yeah, you can drive around with seatbelts that are frayed to a couple of strands, but GAWD FORBID you spew a few extra CO particles

This state sucks

same deal as pighead here, back in the day i had it exit in front of the tire, no problems with fumes. i have it routed right behind the tire now and get some fumage, not bad but i am going to play around with it, i really really want to route it up the rear corner inside the space between sheetmetal and let it exit south of
the drip rail.
