** SEPTEMBER MONTHLY RUN ** Bottom of Salt River Canyon

DAY or OVERNIGHT!

Salt River Canyon, 38.8 miles North of Globe on U.S. 60,
MEETING TIME: SEPTEMBER 28 (MY BIRTHDAY  ) 7AM !
MEETING PLACE:
JACK IN THE BOX
6478 E US Highway 60
Gold Canyon, AZ 85118 ‎ 37 ft E

This run can be done in one day, 87 Miles or 1hr, 45 min drive from meeting place! so please do join if you are only free on Saturday! Others will chime in, but in my opinion this run is stock friendly, yet challenging enough, and well really well worth it for the experienced members as well. I ran this with Phil about a year ago and it was really an amazing place with many turnoffs and places to explore for those who want more of a challenge.
There are at least 2 river crossings that are fun!
I will be spending the night at the end of the canyon and celebrating my 39th with as many of you fellow CSC friends as can join in on the fun!
BTW: Gifts such  will be gladly accepted, but this will be a family friendly celebration.. in a beautiful place! I hope everyone can make it! :D
Since this is an optional overnight; please post up if staying overnight.. and also if you plan to bring a grill, table, chairs, etc to better organize the logistics of the overnight!

Midnight cobbler on the menu? :hmm: :D

READ: This run is on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation and requires a special use permit. The permits are available at the bottom of Salt River Canyon and are $15 per person (not per vehicle) in cash or check. The permit allows you to travel, camp, and fish on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation for 2 days. ATV's, 3 wheelers, quads, golf carts, and side by sides are not permitted on the road.

The special use permit is mandatory if you go on this CSC run.

Sounds like fun.

Camping on the river, keep an eye out for Buzz-tails this time of year.

Phil, good heads up...can we get one the day of the run or does it need to be done during the week or prior to that day?

You can get the permit at the bottom and I have and will have copies.

EDIT- Monkeys can now fly! Last time I talked to guy from the rez he told me monkeys would fly before you could get permits on line.

You want Salt River pass $15

Thanks Phil totally forgot about the $15 fee..

FOLKS don't let the fee discourage you in any way, this place is well worth the entrance fee for both the natural beauty of the place, and the trail! :grinpimp:

Add another $9 to fish. Which can be good.

Better deal than San Carlos, the last 4 day Black & Salt River Camping/Fishing was $80.
