I am considering one so yeah, lots of picture
s please

I went with the dual can kit. After I thought about it I should have went with the tripple, as it can be used for a cooler, or something else too. But there is plenty of room inside too, so...

I took off the reciever hitch a long time ago, and don't know where the bolts are, so it looks like I'll be visiting the local hardware store as step #1.

Looks like luke is using dimple dies on the side plates now.

Not much progress yet. Got the crossmember removed and tire carrier bracket out. I also got the driver side frame cut down. In removal of the tow loops I snapped off the 17mm bolt on the driver side that's needed for the rear plate. Why couldn't it have been the aft one?!?!?!!!!! Gottta figure this little issue out. I think I may try and snap off the welded nut in the frame. After that drill out the hole a little and weld a new nut in. Oh well I didn't expect everything just to fall into place.

I had not thought about drilling the offending broken bolt out. DUH! Well at least I hadn't already started trying to break stuff. Looks like I am breaking out the drill and bits. Thanks for the reminder there.

Well, the nut held up to the drilling, but the the remainder of the frame plate it's welded to decided to separate from the inside of the frame. No pics of this. So, I cut the nut loose, welded on a new one and then welded that back into the frame. Intent on making progress I started looking toward the passenger side frame cut. What do you know, rain in the Antelope Valley! All winter almost nothing, then when I decide to get outside and do stuff...

One step at a time I guess.

Got the shell tacked up. Not much tweaking for alignment. It almost fell into the notches. The only small issue I have is the "wing" plate on the passenger side is about 1/2" closer to the body than the driver side.

The 3rd pic is of the newly welded in nut and the plat that holds it in.

Initial fit pics with all bolts still loose.

A little c-clamp and vise grip clamp work and the notches lined up nicely. The notches you are seeing are from the top looking down, right above the openings for the d-ring/tow hook mounts. It is a tab to align the wing plates and shell. Had to leave for work so this is as far as I got.

Looking nice, as far as im concerned, this is the only bumper worth getting for an 80!!! Look forward to seeing more

If you don't mind me asking, what was the waiting period from the time you ordered it to the time you took delievery?

tried a MUDSHIP deal that fell through and delayed shipping a little. But once I finalizeds standard shipping, it was less than a week. Also I had to have it shipped to a business address.

Weekned progress pics. I am missing the lower spindle bearings, so I am stopping until they show up. In the 4x4Labs thread here they state assembeling the spindle prior to tacking it in, so....

Working solo I have to get a little creative when working on heavy stuff. I did not have the bumper dangeling from the hoist while welding. I used saw horses.

It may not be the bumper, the 80 series bodies can shift. Loosen your body mounts and push it over. ;)
