Completely out of the question, or possible with soem trimming, moving and bump work? Putting the lift on this weekend and trying to decide between 35's and 37's

Some guys run 35's with no lift. so 37's with 2.5 isnt out of the question. Probably not much room to flex though without some major sawzall action.

i have seen this setup up and i think its badass. DO IT! made me wish i had 37s

You might not even have to cut. It really depends on how wide a tire you are going to run. Add a 1" body lift from 4crawler for just over $100 and you will have no problem clearing a 37x12.50 with the right backspacing on your wheels and 2" rear bumpstop extensions. I run a skinny 38" and I have the 2"/1" suspension lift combo with a 1" body lift. I also crossed over into the sawzall and angle grinder realm... I really didn't have to cut that much, but once you start, it gets addictive :hhmm:! I wish they made the IROK or a pitbull rocker in a tall skinny like the 38.5x11 bogger...

This was my thinking as I was going to try and fit 35's with no lift before I stumbled upon the 2.5" for free. Going bigger made sense to me.

Tires are 37 x 12.50 Krawler T/A's, backspacing is either 4 or 4.5 (not sure) which

The two biggest keys are the width of the tires (crawlers are pretty wide at the tread) and shock length, flex allowed.

Yeah I have the Ironman 851 equivalent up front with the OME 862 in the rear with a 1" body lift as well and I high clearanced fenders and could easily run a 40" tire up front. The rear would be more of a problem, but I would limit up travel and probably go with a slightly longer shock. The 862's do keep the rear axle in a more stock position laterally than the 860's and the body lift gives the tire enough room to tuck.

I don't see the need for a 6" lift. I understand you can get more articulation, but uptravel is still going to be limited due to where the tire hits the body. I know this discussion has been beat to death.

If you are going to stay low and go with 37's, then yes you will sacrifice uptravel, but doesn't everyone sacrifice it? I mean everyone is slapping on rear bumpstop extensions to keep the big meats from hitting the body at any lift height right? I know you have to have some lift to gain some range of motion, but 6" is a waste to me. To much to do (drive lines, brake lines, drop brackets, castor, blah, blah...) and not enough gain. I've said enough

Very small cut to the inner corner on the front bumper (not visible from the side) and dropped the rear bumps 2", no problems!

Now for round 2, I have new 5.29's and installs sitting here from the group buy but am seriously questioning if I NEED them. Power is acceptable, shift points and O/D drop I can't complain about... even climbing hills. The speedo is off, but that can be corrected. Anyone run 37's with stock gears and then switched to 5.29's? Was the difference worth it?

Go with 37s, 35s look small! If you don't like your 37s than you can have my 35s and I will take yours.:D

It seems 37's are the new 35's....

There was a thread on a guy running 38's I think on mediums and 3" body lift, but it was set up for mud - aka, not alot of flex.

edit found link he's on stock springs w/ 1/2 spacers

The problem with OME medium is not tire size.

My q78-15lt measure about 36.5 @ 40 psi and they work fine with what I think is a 2.5-3"

KM2's work well in the snow, honestly most radials will do fairly well. Took my other rig yesterday too

Man I'm shivering just looking at that pic!

Do it. I run 37 MTRs with stock gears and a 3fe. I do have a Rodney' transmission, so that make up for a lot of power loss. It locks up in 3rd gear as well. I am running the J springs front and back with Slee bushings. I need a little more caster, but I will do plates(home made) later. Front is not trimmed, but the rear I trimmed the fender lip till it was flat with the well, and door lip. I left the stops as is and added longer shocks(10.5" of travel front and rear). Need a heavier valved shock though(rides like a caddy, sometimes too soft). It wheels just fine and the 37 stuff perfect into the wheel wells. Been to K2, Hot Springs and GSMTR with setup. Only thing holding me back was larger tire(for bigger rocks) and weight(for muddy climbs). I could use gears but waiting to break the 80 series stuff before I put in the tons and 42s. :) Good luck and don't look back. 42s are the new 35s.

ive been considering the same thing for quite awhile now and just sold a motor to make room for a buddies brand new coopers 325.80.16 i figure ill loose a lot of flex till i step up on my lift but i guess we will see come this weekend :D Ive got 850/860 spring combo with 30mm spacers
