Just purchased a beautiful 1992 Toyota Landcruiser with 146K on it. I am the 3rd owner. I know the second owner very well and she's owned it since 60K. The interior and exterior are immaculate. It's an Arizona vehicle. It was basically babied. I've been looking for one of these for years and now I've got it. It has your normal leaks here and there as I crawled under it today to check things out. Engine comparment is flawless. Looks like a little bit of a leak at the oil pan. Fair amount of oil build up around transmission and transfer case. What kind of things do I need to watch for? What scheduled maintenance do I need to worry about to keep her humming along? The owner is going to give me all of the maintenance and repair records next week. She said it was basically a gem all of the time she owned it. I'm not getting rid of this baby. I'm in for the long haul. I'll pass it on to my kids after 20 years. It's a classic. I'm just looking for guidance so I can keep here going. Thanks. :)

Pesky, you are going to LOVE this site. It will become your immediate go-to when something funky happens with your Cruiser.

Buy yourself a Factory Service Manual (FSM), and look up contact info for "cruiserdan" (the OEM parts guru here)... And as poppy said, read through the FAQ for 80's as well as 62's, since you have a 3FE engine.

Oil pan bolts can be snugged up a little - at least that stopped the leak on mine. Then you'll probably want to start with reading up on "birfs" and replacing seals in your front axle, repacking bearings etc, and baseline all your fluids (diffs, transfer case, transmission, power steering, brake, radiator...), and maybe new brake shoes/pads.

There are probably a bunch of "normal" things that are going to have to be dealt with, simply because your truck is damned-near 20 years old, but once you get over the hump you're gonna love her!

Welcome aboard!

Welcome Pesky.

Google "Toyota Publications" to order your FSM by phone. (They actually just call it the "Land Cruiser Repair Manual".)

Then read, read, read on this site, and keep current on the threads being posted. You'll be totally up to speed in no time.
