I ordered a 2" body lift from 4Crawler.com I thought I might highlight a few mods I made for others. The 4crawler website has great directions to use and this may be a supplement to those. Body Lift Installation Instructions

First , I remove the nuts from all the stock mounts, ( 2 front, 2 rear, 3 on each side) There are plastic covers under the carpet that must be removed to access the heads of the body bolts. I removed the front seats to access the bolts. Remove the bolts from one side of the vehicle. I used a floor jack and 4x4 block to raise the vehicle on the side the bolts have been removed. Loosen the nut on the steering shaft retainer so it wont bind when you jack up the vehicle. FYI you access the two rear body mounts from under the vehicle. Make sure before you raise the vehicle to loosen all brake, emergency brake and any other brackets that may need to be removed. Scan the engine bay for anything that mounts between body and frame.

Most are brake brackets and the E-brake under the vehicle. some of these are necessary and some not. Each vehicle is different.

You will have to remove the carpet guards and pull up the carpet for easy access.

Some may require a steering shaft extension. Some may not. I felt my shaft had extended farther than I liked. So I purchased one from 4crawler, it doesn't come with the kit.

I did the 2in bodylift also, some things were not covered on Rogers website. Why did you unbolt the exhaust?

Motor is out for work. Made the whole process easier. :) BTW I have a few pucks laying around, That's a great idea!!

Before and after shots of the shifter

I had a local machine shop make me spacers for the T-case shifter. I used 1x4 flat bar to connect the shifter to the rod. Just drill your holes 2" apart and then drill a hole through the flat bar and shifter to hold it in place. Use a locknut to mount the flat bar to the shifter(at the rod end) Use the stock plastic grommet and washers. Don't overtighten it, it must move when shifting.

For the radiator, I dropped the brackets exactly 2". I achieved this by taking off the stock radiator brackets , repositioning the bracket and drilling a hole.

The factory mount holes are 1 3/4" apart , so you must elongate one of the holes. One you have moved the bracket up far enough it will clear the factory stud.

The extension on the shifter may not be needed, when I raised mine I just unscrewed the adjuster at the trans end.

Once you elongate the bracket you can mount it with the factory nut. Then you can drill your top hole and install a bolt and nut in that location. ( when you drill the upper hole it will be on a rounded, not flat surface.) You can use the bracket as a guide. After you drill the hole use a punch, hammer, whatever to flatten the sheet metal. The bolt needs to mount as flush as possible so it won't interfere with the radiator.

Very true, All these mods are owners choice. You may not need some or all of them, This is just the way I choose to go. There are 1000 different ways to achieve these mods also. Do what works best for you. :)

Oh yes I fully agree, but you changed the throw of the shifter by making it longer. been there, didn't work for me.

How so? The t-case shift rod is in the same place. The only thing that changes is the amount of throw. Why didn't yours work?

Great pics Bill...I was wondering how you were getting such good camera angles...lol. Thanks for sharing. I was going to dive into mine tomorrow, but I've decided to wait till I get some 37's, so I don't look like a total retard driving down the road...So, mine will go on the week of the 22nd most likely.

Chris
